This doesn't look good for this officer

There are 4 videos in the article as well. The arrest itself I'm still not sure what it was over. They were called for a noise complaint. In the 4th video the officer said he was arrested for touching his arm .

The one video in the body of the story seemed like the baton on the ground was excessive.

Luckily the officer who came into the apartment after the arrest had a cool head and tried to calm the situation because 9ne officer came in screaming after and seemed like he wanted to arrest others for no reason.

I can only imagine how frustrated those officers get on occasion.

With that said, the officer with the crew cut seemed to be over the top. Almost like he snapped.

"I wasn't doing anything! I wasn't doing anything!"

Guess yelling out the doorway at the officer non-stop counts as NOTHING in her mind.

Maybe next time she'll keep her mouth shut and not confront a police officer!

Irrelevant.

Plus, there will be a settlement and the officers will be punished.

I'm fine with arresting a drunk college kid for being a drunken jerk.

I just find the taser, beating with the flashlight and club with multiple officers to be over the top.

Like I said bravo to the calm officer who came inside once action started , he calmed the situation because that other officer outside was coming back in for sone more action.

^ for some reason I couldn't get any of the videos to work. Being a jerk isn't a crime, even in public, but as I said I didn't get to see the video of the kid was outside of his apartment or not. But I'll take your word on the over the top part.

I too commend the officer that you said defused the situation. That is the first thing one needs to do.

Honestly that's what's missing from the videos and why I'm with holding full judgement. Videos start with officer in doorway and kids asking if they are being arrested or detained. Officer doesn't respond so they go to shut the door and officer sticks foot in the door , they ask again and now he says they are under arrest.

The problem is we don't know what happened before that to give the officer cause to enter the house. He possibly could of had a reason so I want to with hold judgement on that aspect. Regardless what happened outside the apartment was excessive from what I saw.

Thanks for the link Demios. Yes, judging by the video it looks bad for the officers. Were there body cams? I sure hope so! Hopefully more will come out about this to clear up the first part, but the excessive force, taser and baton, may throw this way against the officers no matter what.

I don't know about body cams but there are videos from the students inside the apartment that take the other view.

The one problem is the videos really only go back 20 seconds before the physical confrontation started. So I don't know what really happened prior.

Either way as of right now I don't think the physical actions outside were called for at this time. Something could always come out to change my mind.

3 officers have been suspended.

The last video linked in that story shows a little bit more of the situation. It shows the officer trying to get the guy with the ball cap out of the apartment (to arrest him I assume) and the guy pulls back into the apartment. The officer then, I think, gets confused as to which guy grabbed his arm and pulls away because he tells one of the other guys that he was under arrest for harassment for grabbing his arm. It wasn't the guy that actually grabbed the officer's arm though--that might have been why he wouldn't go outside to begin with. The first kid did grab the officer's arm and pull back when he tried to take him outside for sure.

I wonder how many pages this thread would be if this could be considered a hate crime....seems softly quiet and to be honest I'm not all that surprised.
