Bruner's kick were going back to around the 25-20, while Scott's were kicked almost going immediately into the ground right at the front line and many fielded by the front line which is only a 10 yrd kick not 20-25 yrds. Now that may have be by design but that wasn't close to what Lloyd did (this week). I just don't want anything taken away from Bruner on his kicks that were fantastic from what the Juggs KOs have been all season. It makes a world of difference making your opponents start deep in their territory and have to go almost the full length of the field.

 

I'm sorry to disagree with you but I have to go with the facts of the play-by-play - Scott had three kickoffs to the Lloyd 44, 42, and 42 (16, 18, and 18 yards) - all to #41 Michael Mitchell who was on the 2nd line of the return team. Mitchell fell on all of them. I rounded all that to 20 yards. Scott opened the 2nd half with a kick to the 33 which was returned 8 yards. He had a touchback later and the final kick with 31 seconds left to the 31. He kicked exactly to where the coaches wanted him to kick.

 

Bruner's kicks were longer, but did not leave HC deep in their territory. 1) To the 21 returned for 19 yards to the 40. 2) To the 11 returned for 13 yards to the 24. 3) To the 20 returned for 17 yards to the 37. 4) To the 20 returned for 21 yards to the 41. 5) To the 38, 0 yard return. 6) A touchback 7) To the 34 returned for 7 yards to the 41. Slightly longer kicks, but with the exception of one of the kicks, the starting position for the offense was pretty close to being the same. Around the 40.

 

It seemed like HC started further back after kickoffs because they had more methodical drives. They dominated Time of Possession. Lloyd had several quick strikes for TDs.

 

Congrats to Lloyd for their victory. Maybe they can see HC back there in Erlanger in four weeks.

I have averages starting positions after kickoffs for Lloyd at the 37 (6 kicks received) and HC as 34 (7 kicks received). No big deal. I don't see that as a big difference and I don't see it as much work for someone to return a kick a few yards. But, I certainly am not going to take credit away from a first time kicker either. Kudos to #77. Biggest kicker I ever saw in about 10 years of doing stats.

Sorry juggalum I'm a Lloyd fan and wish I could back you but Mitchell was on the second line but as far as Bruner goes he did a fantastic job kicking for first game ever also had players tell me he was very nervous and they think he will get better wwith each game
