Garrard will match up much better against LexCath.

Matchup better than who? Remember now LC played teams like Ryle and Cooper ( 6A top 5 teams ) Johnson Central ( #1 class 4A ) Boyle Co ( was #1, now #2 or # 3 ). So which team do you compare Garrard to as far as better matchup with LexCath?

Than they (Garrard) did with Boyle, at least from an offensive (Garrard ball).

 

It doesn't meant they'll win, it might not even be close, but they match up better.

Considering GC couldn't score on the Rebel's D and Rebels placed a 48 on GC. Are you saying GC's defensive back are faster and quicker than BC that they could cover the receivers? Please be constructive.

Go back and read the post... He said that Garrard matches up better with LexCath than they did with Boyle. NOT that Garrard is a better matchup than Boyle was. He also said OFFENSIVELY for Garrard. Didn't see anything about defensive backs, at all. I don't want to put words in the guy's mouth, but I think this might be what he means:

 

Garrard runs the football, primarily. LexCath has not been as good at stopping the run as Boyle. Therefore, the thought is that Garrard's offense should be able to move the ball better vs. LexCath's defense than against Boyle's defense.

 

I will also answer your questions about defensive backs, although it was not part of the post you called out: Yes - Garrard's DBs are faster and quicker than Boyle's. That doesn't necessarily mean they are "better," but they are faster, overall.

 

Now, does any of this mean Garrard will beat Catholic? No, but it isn't unreasonable to say that LexCath is a better matchup for Garrard than Boyle was.

I thought I addressed this in a post above, but I'll say it again. Garrard matches up better when they have the ball. Garrard will struggle with LexCath's passing game IMO. That's a given if nothing more than most who play them do.

 

Garrard's style of offense will be similar to that of Johnson Central. Am I saying Garrard is Johnson Central? No. But, their styles and personnel are closer to one another than anybody else on their schedule.

 

LexCath was able to sling it around some and that's how you beat Boyle (or have a chance to do so). On the flip side, Johnson Central ran through LexCath as though they were running plays on air. You can't beat Boyle that way. That's why I said JC wouldn't beat Boyle & they dang sure wouldn't be able to put up 42 points on them like they did vs. LC.

 

I fully expect LC to win, but despite comparing scores (which I hate doing and seeing)- I tend to look up at match ups. Garrard (again, when they have the ball) matches up better against LC better than they did against Boyle.

He maybe referring to Garrards front line they are huge up front and since LC has had trouble defending the run I'm guessing that's what he's talking about. This years Garrard team has more size at every position than any I've ever seen in Lancaster.

This Friday could be an interesting night. What if Garrard or Henry wins or both win. Then what happens. I for one look for Henry to play good against Central. This is a game that could put them on the map. Saturday morning could be a surprise.
