Big Rivalry and Televised Game on ch-64 next Saturday

Who wins and why?

This has been one of the better rivalries in NKY over the last 7 years.

Conner was the one team that stopped Cooper's undefeated season on their way to the championship game in 2012 giving them their only L in the regular season that year.

These two teams have always had close games no matter what the records have been. 2013 was a instant classic even though Cooper had a losing record that year while Conner was putting away teams by bunches. With Conner and their DI QB Drew Barker leading the way on another ch-64 televised game, the two teams battled back and forth the 2nd half as Cooper wiped out a double digit lead by Conner to take the lead with just over a min left in the game when Ludwig hooked up with Fussinger for Cooper in the endzone to give Cooper a 1 pt lead only to watch that lead dissapear with less than a minute left when Barker had another come from behind TD pass to put Conner up. Cooper with under 30 secs left drove back down field with a diving catch on a pass from Ludwig to Fussinger to put the Jag's on the 12 yard line and set to score the winning TD when the next play ended the game with an INT in the endzone. Great games these two teams have played over the years and always with the district title at stake.

While these 2 teams were in 5A over the last 4 years, Cooper has won or tied with Conner the District championship 3 times. These two teams are now set once again to play for the district title in their first year after moving up to 6A. This game is always something special. 2 great teams with an even better rivalry. Throw the records out the window folks, this will be a game of back and forth and may the best team win!

K Padgett may be the best kept secret in NKY. The kid can flat out ball.

I think your point about "secret" is correct. Playmaker. Conner has a lot of TDs this year that happened because he , somehow, was able to keep the play alive. I always go old school and say he's Frank Tarkenton in his ability somehow come out of a scrum in the backfield.

Cooper will be the prohibitive favorite. Good news for Conner is they have a lot less receivers to cover than they did against Ryle. Bad news is that one kid is really good. Conner front 7 will have to play really well and pressure the QB and slow down the running game.

Conner will be without senior Sam Driggers. He, unfortunately, broke his fibula in the Ryle game. Big loss for the Cougars, as he is done for the year. Hope he has a quick and full recovery.

I am sorry to hear that news. The number of people attending to him on the field and how slow the cart drove off indicated a serious injury. Best wishes to Sam for a fast recovery and good luck to Conner moving forward.

No disrespect to Driggers, but Conner has a kid I saw the game he missed with a concussion who is a good hole clogger as well. Can't remember his name but he has started at defensive tackle the last couple weeks as well.

Driggers will be missed by the Conner D. He is their best D-Lineman without question. I think this will be another Conner/Cooper classic! It doesn't matter if one team is much better than the other, the last 4 or so years this game has been a battle no matter which team should win and by how much

If Conner can throw the ball

Successfully then I think they can have a shot at the W. Padgett is great at keeping plays alive with his feet, but I don't think he's faced a run defense as good as what he will see Sat.

Cooper on the other hand needs to establish a good running game Sat to keep Conner's D honest. This is a great rivalry and the DVR is set.

Should be a great game, rivalry games always are, Conner keeps it close, but I like Cooper by 10

Cooper 34-14.

Is this game Friday or Saturday night?

Saturday at 7pm. Ch-64 will be televising the game just as they did last week with the Highlands Cov Cath game.

Ok thanks! Nkysports.com had the 23rd.
