Congrats to Ryle. They were very determined to win this one. They controlled the ball and played on Boone's side of the field most of the night. Scoring came in the second half as too many opportunities were provided Ryle for the defense to continue to hold.

To be honest I was kinda dreading that last game (whenever it would come whether at districts or later). 10-12 years going to the pitch to watch practices and games... It is sometimes hard to fit everything into the schedule but I do not regret one minute of it. All of it, from practices to games, tourney's out of town, even tried my hand at coaching for a couple of years, all of it has been pure joy. What a great way to spend time with your son. It gives you an opportunity to encourage him and build him up, and teach him a few things about life along the way. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

 

Watching the Boone boys run across the pitch one last time to greet the fans following the game last night, and seeing them gather for one last chat with the coach was a bit of an emotional moment for me and a few other parents as well.

 

As the Conner and Cooper game started inside the stadium, the Boone team hung out for a while outside the gate talking together--no one wanting it to end. It spoke a great deal about the camaraderie and friendships that the game builds. Boone faced an uphill battle this year and I am really proud of how hard they worked and the effort they gave to become as good as they could be. You could see how much the boys appreciated the contributions of their teammates at that impromptu meeting outside the gate at Conner stadium. And that transcends any outcome we could have achieved on the pitch.
