Mom Forces McGraw Hill/Texas Schools To Change Wording in Text Book

Featured Replies

I think we have some McGraw Hill historians on this site.

Can anyone tell me who built the beautiful stone "slave walls"that you see when you drive through KY?

Immigrants or slaves?

Book lumps slaves in with immigrants and refers to them as coming into the country as workers.

Kudos to her.

Bad wording certainly but it does start out by saying the slave trade brought them here. Probably should have said brought them here against their will to work instead of brought workers here. I think they assumed way too much.

From what I had read they lumped the "indentured servitude" actions with the slave trade actions when in fact they were two different systems.
