What do we do with Timmons? Thoughts?

Featured Replies

Seems UK ruins great talent and makes average talent good.

The list could go on and on of talent not used or ruined.

If UK's OC is still putting him in position to make plays, and he can't make them, how is UK ruining his talent? His problem seems to be confidence based, and the only way to fix that is to make a play, be it in a game or something special at practice. Talking up a kid's confidence makes just a slight impact. They have to take ownership of it.

And you can say the same thing in every case.

You could. Every situation is specific to the individual. Fact of the matter is that Timmons hasn't been right since he dropped those passes against Florida last year, one of which led to a crucial interception. He has the yips, so to speak.

Okay, so what about the all the game losing INT Towles has thrown, or Kemp has fumbled or messed up? What about the pass Jeff Badet dropped against Florida this year that could have sealed it for us??

Don't blame the horse, put look at the trainer.

Not a conference factor? Excuse me? Take a look at the numbers below, please?

2013

vs AP ranked teams 14 receptions 148 yards

vs. Conference Teams 21 receptions 188 yards

vs. non-Conference Teams 11 receptions 150 yards

2014

vs AP ranked teams 6 receptions 129 yards

vs. Conference Teams 30 receptions 358 yards

vs. non-Conference Teams 15 receptions 178 yards

The fact of the matter is, Timmons might have dropped a pass, got INT, but players make mistakes, maybe you have to think about Towles. All the back-lash Towles has been getting and you think that, Towles maybe did not play a factor in some throwing errors? I dont know, put me a more accurate quarterback in the backfield, let's say, I'll take, Cody Kessler, I'll take Ryan as a receiver and I bet you, with the right coaching staff and surroundings, this kid would be NFL draft day ready.

Don't give up on Timmons, I'm sold on the kid, I think he does better, you also have to keep in mind, he just had surgery this summer, he has a lot of heart and I think he will do much better.

What part of it is specific to the individual did you miss? Every football player makes bad plays. It is the nature of the beast. The frequency of good/bad plays and HOW A PLAYER MENTALLY RESPONDS to their mistakes differentiates them. Timmons, again, is still playing. He is NOT playing with confidence. Asking about other player mistakes would make sense IF they were taking Timmons role in the offense and screwing up. They play different positions, so your questions don't make sense.

I am not blaming Timmons. I am simply stating that he needs to get his confidence back.

And with that, I agree. Timmons does need to get his confidence back and stop playing so scared. I agree with you, I am just saying; when it is other players that mess up, they don't bash them, like they do Ryan.

Maybe, I guess everybody had such big expectation on the kid? He's kind of like The Harrison Twins of Ky Basketball , I just hope he can pick himself up and become a better player and learn from his mistakes. If I was in this kid's shoes, I would go to the coach, I would take time to ask, what can I do to get better Coach? Can you have some trainers work with me on catching drills, punting drills, mental drills, test me. I think Ryan needs to push himself more.

I see he is still on Punt Return on the depth chart this week, shows the coaches still have faith. :thumb:

There is a thread on here asking for Drew Barker to start. Baker has been getting crushed for his HUGE drops early in games.

I, and I'm sure everyone else, as fans need for Timmons to pick it up. He's a HUGE weapon for the offense. His return ability could really flip the field, and that will be crucial against teams like UGA.

Drew Barker getting early drops, what?

Drew Barker getting early drops, what?

No, Baker, not Barker

Looks like he's being targeted 2 times a game as opposed to 6 per game last year. Is it his confidence the problem or is it a lack of confidence in him by PT? Or is it just the circumstances of the games? He is certainly a valuable weapon when he's on his game.

Maybe he should try going through a full practice more than once a week.

Who Timmons? Does he not practice a lot?
