I would love for Belfry (my mom's alma mater) to win, however, the Knights might have just too much fire power. Should be one heck of a game thought. I would love to be in attendance.

Belfry gets crushed. They are over-matched in this one.

 

I think you're dead wrong Belfry will not get crushed.

Belfry is capable of keeping this one close or winning, no question about it. The odds are probably not in their favor, and they will have to eliminate mistakes to do it, but it can be done.

 

I don't think it will be a wide margin, no matter which team wins. This will be a defensive battle for the most part, or at least I think it will. I expect a near playoff atmosphere and a very close, low scoring game. I can see a 14-13, 17-14, 21-14 type of game with either team on top. Maybe that is wishful thinking.

 

If either team gets the turnover bug, however, I could see maybe a 2TD win at the most.

Don't know if it favors one over the other. As I said basically two teams with the same offense, just different schemes. CM has a turf field as well so it wont be a mud bowl.

 

Belfry's Offense uses a little more ball handling and more plays where they pull it out of someone's gut. CM does a little more passing. Think all in all rain is a wash (no pun intended)

I'm never happy with a loss, ever. Losing sucks.

 

This is one of those weeks where if Belfry plays well and loses by a couple of scores to a better team, and CM looks like the better team, then I am OK with it.

 

I'm interested to see how we respond to a team who can push us around some. If we fall behind, how will we react? How patient will we be if our bread and butter doesn't work. Win or lose, there will be a lot to learn from this game moving forward.

I am totally 100% in agreement here.

 

I am also excited to see a couple things:

 

- How will Belfry's linemen respond to the Donahue kid? Belfry has a very good OLine and the duo of Scott and Dotson have been playing at an All-State level so far (which is saying something when you have three 4* linemen in Lexington). The Pirates have been tested by a couple great RB's (Pugh and Smith), a very good QB (Burke), an elite WR (Rodgers), and an elite OT (Mays).. but this is the first time Belfry squares up against a top tier Defensive talent. How will these guys respond against someone for the first time they cannot simply physically manhandle?

 

- How does Belfry respond to having part of their Offense taken away? Thusfar Belfry has imposed their will on Offense and ran it basically as they wished. NewCath was game, although Belfry was without possibly their two most dynamic rushers, but this week there is no doubt some part of this Pirate offense will be eliminated. If I am a betting man, and judging by Salmons' track record at Lawrence County, the Fullback will be taken away and the option pitch neutralized. Can Corbett make the right read? Will Catron and Willis rise to the challenge between the tackles?
