This weekend is the Freshman Regional...and it is wide open. Highlands currently sits at 6 and 3 (no ties, 2 losses to Trinity and one to the Catholics of Park Hills) after a 2 to nil win over NewCath. NewCath owns a 3 to nil victory over the Colonels. The Colonels have EASILY played the most challenging schedule. Due to their ability to possess the ball, I give them the early nod, but they are on the stacked side of the bracket. Good luck to everyone.

Should be a good tourney. CCH Frosh pounded Brossart yesterday 4-0 down on the pasture off of Route 8 but I'm not sure if that's the same team Brossart will bring to the regional tournament or not.

Calvary freshman team pretty solid team- lot of 7-8 graders but solid players.

In the past I have been very vocal about these.....let me clarify something before we actually get to the JV tourny........

 

frosh regionals is a class tournament......if a team wants take a chance to bring down a frosh, even playing varsity , then have at it. It is more like a class showcase.

 

On the JV regional, I am completely opposite. If a player plays significant V minutes, then they should not be brought down for the JV tournament. Bring Frosh up if they don't play significant V minutes, but not Varsity players down.

It's a tournament for freshman soccer teams. If you play regularly the entire year on the JV or Varsity soccer team............then you're not a member of the frosh soccer team and shouldn't play in my opinion.

Good rule.........never enforced.

I don't know too much about nky freshman soccer, but I have seen Calvary Christian's freshman team play quite a few times and they seem to be very promising. Lots of young talented kids and most if not all starters play some form of high level club. Forwards and midfielders work really well together and they possess the ball great for such a young team. I would put my money on them advancing to at least the semi finals.

The draw works in their favor as all the favorites are on the opposite side of the bracket.

Lot of good kids on the calvary team - should be a fun weekend
