Could Mercer/Harrodsburg Consolidated be forced to play 3A in 2006?

Featured Replies

...and here we go, again....

As Mountain Thunder pointed out earlier, Mercerburg, Jaggers and Co. are in the ole situation of "Danged if you do, danged if you dont". If they win state, some will say, "Told you they had a big advantage, not fair." If they dont win it all, some will be calling for his job...

I, for one, find it all quite amusing....

Not saying anything negative here, merely pointing out facts. As a fan of Russell, I don't really care what you do since the Devils have enjoyed much success meeting the Scotties in the playoffs...:thumb:

:thumb: Well said! It is a 1 year deal and unlike what Goherd seems to believe, this is a merger for all sports, not just for football. Do we really think that they will become the KHSAA version of the Titans?

My exact post..."Quick question...I was told by a highly reliable source today that Mercerburg is only consolidating in football this year, they will continue to play separately in other sports. Is this true???"

How is that suddenly what I believe...

I posed it as a question because I didn't really see how that could be the case. While my source is highly reliable, I thought he may have been given some bad info. As for them becoming the KHSAA version of the Titans...I doubt it. And yes, it is only for one year as the state districts will be redrawn after the 2006 season...probably adding in another class too.

On a side note, I'm not an expert on 2A but i believe Mercer & Newport are now on the other side of the playoff bracket from you & Belfry. Doesnt that make a carpet ride much higher probability for one of you 2 now?

Let us know if I have that right

I believe you are correct there Woody...not sure how this idiotic plan will shape up, but it will certainly be different. I'm not opposed to changing the playoff system, I just feel there should have been a little less secrecy on the part of the KHSAA. I mena, no one seems to have had a clue this was coming. Maybe if they had gotten some input from their member schools and the coaches, there would be much less confusion and uproar than what they have managed to incite.

I thought all the Letcher Central students were together at Whitesburg. Did they use the old Fleming-Neon and Letcher buildings in 2005-06?

Letcher Central students were primarily in the old Whitesburg High School building with some students having to be housed in other buildings. Neither Letcher High or Fleming Neon High Schools were used in 2005-2006

Harrodsburg and Mercer will merge in all high school athletics. The middle schools will remain separate athletically until the new high school is built.
