I think Brooke Davis from Dixie has a break out year this season.

I agree, Brooke is a nice player. But with the absence of Tibbs it all falls on the shoulders of Kylie Brock. Dixie will go as far as Brock can take them.

I'm with 19 in regards to McClendon.

A lot of good returning players this year for the 9th region. Several schools with nearly entire starting line-up returning from last year . The senior class has a bunch of skill and experience to offer, although no major stars, imo, just solid players. McClendon is a possible stand-out, and I agree that she is likely under-rated. Interesting to see if she can carry her tribe this year after graduating a well balanced group.

 

I expect good things from the Ryle girls. They are a great group of young ladies and return their top 8 players. They have both experienced senior talent (Jones, Jump, Lange, M Schwartz, Carothers) and young raising talent (Scherr, L Schwartz & MacGregor) - and a strong bench behind them - lost only one player to graduation and the post transfer to NCC. They may have Aly Ast back from a year long injury.

 

The pivotal issue for the Ryle girls will be the new coach. Talk is Coach Haitz is using Fookes style conditioning to get her team up to speed and plans to maximize her teams height advantage, but only time will tell how far a first year coach can take a team.

As for HHS, they return 6 of their top 8. Haley Coffey, Brianna Adler and McKenzie Leigh all return for their senior season. Adler has been starting at the 2 guard since 7th grade. She reached the 1000 point mark early last year and is the purest shoot in the region. Coffey has been the starting PG since her 8th grade year. She has excellent ball handling skills and decision making abilities. She's the blue collar worker for the Birds and should reach her thousand points this year. Leigh is 6'1" and had a coming out party last year. This is her third year as a starter and has been contributing since the 8th grade. She should also reach a thousand this year.

 

They also return Zoie Barth and Kiersten Clukey, who would have started for many teams in the region last year. Barth is an incoming freshman and Clukey a Jr. Both should have great years.

 

HHS also has a very strong incoming freshman class that could be contributing by year's end.

 

With the vast experience of the Birds seniors, regional experience and the skilled youth they have, I look for the Birds to be right in the thick of things this year!

Is McGregor playing? I heard rumors she may not be. Nothing solid, just talk over the summer. Would be a shame. She's one of my favorite up and coming younsters to watch. Oozing with athleticism!!! Great kid and parents as well!!

Hope new coach gets the most out of this talented group. Under achieved for a couple years now. In my opinion should be much better than they have played.

Jenna Martin is a great point guard! But i think NDA will struggle this year. So she might not stand out as much.

 

The Holmes girl that will be a sophomore this fall - last name McClendon I think? She is good.

 

Mallory Schwatz from Ryle - great player especially around the basket, makes hard things look easy.

Ryle also got a pretty good transfer late in the game who I think will add some strength to the bench as well.

I agree Budman. This kid will be one of the top players in the 9th.
