Colonels start 10 seniors tonight and completely dominate from start to finish. I believe it was 5-0 with about 20 mins left in the first half. Defense totally shut down the Walnut Hills attack and CCH did not take their foot off the gas until the second half. Litzler with a very good game with a hat trick and at least two assists as well. CCH approaching a fully healthy team.

How did Ibrahima Goumbale (sp?) from WH look? Fine young player.

He played ok but just could not get loose against the CovCath defense. With the alignment they played tonight I doubt you will find a faster, more athletic defense.

I'm surprised to see that Day didn't score. Was he playing tonight?

Played his usual, controlling center midfield position and is the heart of CCH's attack. A lot of starters didn't play the usual minutes once CCH went up.

For someone like me who doesn't follow soccer closely, especially Cincinnati soccer, what's the story here? Surprise or is WH just not that strong?

I had said that because Walnut lost 13 seniors, and in spite of them having a dominant kid up top, I thought CovCath would win comfortably and Walnut wouldn't be able to build enough chances from the back and in the midfield to give their striker good chances.

I'd say it's a surprise given that Walnut Hills is traditionally one of the stronger sides in Cincy in Division I and I believe are ranked #5 over there now. Yes, they graduated a large senior class but teams like Walnut Hills tend to reload quickly. They have 9-10 seniors on the current team as well. Regardless, I'd say they are slightly overrated and ran into a buzz saw in Park Hills that they didn't expect on this side of the river. CCH JV also won by a score of 2-0.

As you and I discussed, their coach was excited heading into the season. I would say that CovCath is really good this year and Walnut Hills is still finding itself. Therefore, you get a 7-1 scoreline.

I would agree but it required throwing 3 sometimes 4 defenders at him. He's a very strong, quick and technically gifted player. As I understand it talking with one of the WH parents WH was without 3 starters including starting and backup V keeper. Their keeper last night was the backup JV keeper which showed in many of those crosses into the box a few of which resulted in header goals. #45 from WH was fun to watch purely to see if his throw-ins were going to land in the back of the net with or without being touched. I think i saw him toss one from the 20 yard line that hit the top of the net. Was hoping for a more competitive game but was nice to see the tall Wessels (sp?) boy see action as I heard he was out this season so far. He adds a lot of size and ball control mad defensive mid work which will be needed with stronger teams.
