Fulton County:Ground game

It appears that Fulton County has a good 1-2 punch in the backfield.

SR-Deandre Couch-5-11-205 along with SR-Ryan Williams 5-9-195.

Do these guys have any help to improve on the 1-9 record in 2014.

They have a new coach, David Gallagher, who was there before in the 1990s when they last had sustained success. The district is easier without Mayfield, but they are still a struggling program. Will take time.

If there were any two schools in the state that needed to merge, it's Futon County and Fulton City. But, with them being two different school systems, I doubt it will ever happen.

Wishing county the best, though. Back in the 90's they were a force to be reckoned with.

It may happen before too long. Fulton City had less then 20 in their graduation class this past year.

Is there any hope of the school getting more students or is this a case of a school standing on their final leg?

I doubt it. Fulton County is the farthest western county in Kentucky and is very small. If county and city merged they'd still play in the smallest class. I'd imagine most people there move on to Mayfield, Murray or Paducah, or any number of west Tennessee towns once they've finished school and are looking for work. I can't see the population ever increasing.

Wow. Amazing. I hate to hear that, but I'd love to see these two merge. The kids at both schools deserve a fighting chance in all sports. Not just that, but I have no idea how a county and overall community that small can adequately keep these two separate districts afloat.

Me either. Not that many rural areas do as is in the grand scheme of things, but it's as isolated as it gets.

Both teams always field a team with 4 or 5 really good athletes, but, when you are playing 15-20 kids, they're forced to play on both sides of the ball, on all the special teams and they can't sustain against deeper teams. If they merged and dressed 30-35 kids with those 10 or so really good athletes, they'd be a formidable 1a team. If they did merge, they may even draw a few extra kids that currently opt for S.Fulton, Tn and even a few kids from Hickman Co who doesn't have a FB team.

i think with Both Fulton County and Fulton City... they will have a couple good athletes but with the shear lack of numbers and kids playing both ways and the lack of size that is normal for 1A schools .. the wear and tear of the game and season have a much greater effect on them... The district has Russellville with 50 or so on the roster and Crittenden who has 50 also so when you only have 15-20 it shows..

Both Fulton city & Fulton County have a few exceptional athletes..just they don't have the numbers to compete with other teams.they are forced to play most players both ways..in order to be successful they must come together as a team, have a coach for the long haul, believe in themselves, and try to increase numbers..until this happens they will continue on the decline..I'm predicting a 1-9 season for both Fulton teams..
