This one is only closed 2-3 months, Murray's DQ is closed 5 months. This particular DQ in Moorhead is bonkers. Always super busy when I drive by. For those that don't know, Moorhead is part of the Fargo metro area. The next community over from Moorhead has the same setup.

So they have "local favorites" as well?

July 24, 201511 yr I haven't seen the one in Paintsville, but the one in Moorhead is eerily similar to the Murray one. Both are right up on one of the city's busiest thoroughfares with the buildings up to the front setback lines. Dangerous setups in both places. The Moorhead one is at a major intersection.

To me the Murray one is more about what they don't have on the menu, like burgers and chicken strips. The hotdogs they sale are totally different from the corporate hot dog, same with the chili being different.
July 25, 201511 yr There are still a few old-school DQs where there is no inside seating and they close through the winter months. There's one at the foot of the Madison-Milton bridge on US421 on the Milton, Ky side that is like that. That place was open long before I was born, my dad says. I wonder how many of those summer-only types are operating under contracts where they have freedom from the corporate menu? And for that matter, how many are there left?
