July 22, 201511 yr Author Don't really have much desire at all to see it based on previews. Surprised you guys said it was really good. I wasn't going to go either, and I was very surprised that I really enjoyed it. It was a fun movie...didn't take itself to seriously, but likeable characters pretty well played by the actors (I am not a critic), and I didn't leave feeling it was stupid.
July 22, 201511 yr I thought the villain was way to two-dimensional, but other than that, I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. It won't rate among my favorite comic movies or even Marvel, but it certainly won't rate among the worst either. A solid, middle of the pack movie.
July 22, 201511 yr .... Like others have said, and alluded to, my expectations going in were incredibly low. I liked it. I didn't love it, but I liked it. I thought they made it entertaining, I liked Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas (and Evangeline Lilly). I really liked how they tied it into "The Avengers" and set him up to work with them in the future. I liked how they looped in Hydra. I liked the Iron Man reference, and how they alluded to the most recent "Avengers" movie. All in all, I'd give it 3 stars out of 5.
July 22, 201511 yr Forgot to mention, except for when they took a long, lingering still shot of his face, the CGI de-aging of Michael Douglas at the beginning was one of the most impressive ones I've seen so far. They always talk about the "uncanny valley" and how you can immediately identify CGI faces as fake, but that one held up well.
July 23, 201511 yr Is Garrett Morris playing him? I read that Garrett Morris has a cameo in this movie.
