If he does not get caught then he skips his automatic out. This works better when batting roster and you are hitting eleven or twelve guys. Things get confusing when so many batters in line up.

 

Actually witnessed his stud get out once then he self reported it allowing his stud to bat again then he of course doubles in two runs.

What a jerk move. I'm sure he thinks he's just smarter than everybody else. Why not just bunt?? I guess it's better to tell the kid "hey Johnny, we better off if we just skip you this time up":no:

I believe the rule reads something like this:

When an improper batter becomes a runner or is put out and a legal pitch has been thrown to the succeeding batter and before an appeal is made, the improper batter becomes the proper batter and the result of his at bat become legal.

 

In this case, Abel was the improper batter that became legalized by the pitch he hit for a single (or from the first pitch he saw). The appeal HAS to occur either before Abel bats, in which case, he would have been called out and Baker would be the correct batter.
