June 19, 201511 yr I was looking up basketball wins and losses for Coach Jim Connor. In doing so I was reminded that he was also extremely successful as a baseball coach. He had about 450 wins in basketball and about 500 wins in baseball. You obviously do not see coaches coaching multiple sports any more. It got to me thinking about other coaches who did. My parents are Holmes grads so I grew up hearing about "Coach Tom" Ellis. I'm pretty sure he coached basketball, football, and baseball. Others?
June 19, 201511 yr Probably have to go pretty far back for all around coaches. I believe Edgar McNabb of Beechwood coached just about everything in his day. I thought there was a Tom Ellis coaching football at Beechwood in the 60's.
June 19, 201511 yr Can't have this list without Jeff Trame. Has coached regional finalists in 4 sports (baseball, basketball, volleyball and slowpitch) at two different schools (Scott and Holy Cross) in both girls and boys sports. Just this year he took the baseball team to state and the final 4 and was on the volleyball coaching staff, coaching the team most of the year while Coach Sullivan was out on maternity leave, that also made the state semi's. To have that success in both boys and girls sports over a long period of time is unbelievable. He's a good friend of mine so I may not be unbiased, but I know no other coach that's done this either in NKY or where I'm from.

He coached both hoops and baseball there at the time (mid 80's). As good a man as you could ever meet. I never heard him say a curse word one time in 4 years but if he wanted to get your attention, he absolutely could:)...
June 19, 201511 yr At HHS in the late 70's and early 80's, Coach Kenney Shields coached varsity basketball and Coach Bill Petty coached the JV basketball team. For baseball, they switched roles as Coach Petty coached the varsity and Coach Shields coached JV.

I believe that he is the only coach to coach a future MLB and NBA rookie of the year.
June 20, 201511 yr Also, Bob Schneider had a lot of success as a baseball coach. He won a couple of regionals I believe
