Cal to remain at UK

Featured Replies

It doesn't get any "righter" than the Cavs. In terms of paying him well, it would take 8-10 a year for an old guy who failed once already.

That's right and the only reason why he is still here is because all of the players were returning. If most of the players would have left two years ago after finishing runner up, Coach Cal would be coaching in the NBA Finals right now most likely.

So that even shows if the right job comes along he will seriously consider it. Luckily for us UK fans for the first time we had a lot of guys who wanted to come back, and he knew he had a chance of making history and going 40 and 0. So as I keep saying if the right job comes along there is a good chance he goes, we got lucky that when the right job came along this last time was the same time we actually had everyone returning which made it almost impossible for him to leave.

If Coach Cal were to go to Cleveland, he would have to share power & authority with Coach Lebron.

Cal would go from being A-number-one, top of the list, king of the hill, A-number-1... to co-Coach of the Cavs.

Not sure how well that would work out for either of them.

Coach Cal lets his players play. I don't see him having any problem at all with letting the best player in the World do his thing and have a big voice in things. He is not Pitino in needing to control every aspect of things. The way Coach Cal coaches would fit very well with star type players. Not to mention the fact that he would have a chance to be only the 2nd coach ever to win titles in both college and pro's would make him plenty happy since he loves doing what people think he can't.

Even if Cal gave LeBron free reign to play, would LeBron give Cal free reign to coach? LeBron has scrubbed Blatt's offense, inserted himself at point guard without asking permission, taken over play-calling duties, over-ruled end of game plays and involved himself in the personnel decision making operation of the team. Cal would stand for very little of this. And, Cal would know that if the situation ended up in a (spit)ing contest, he would lose.
