May 25, 201511 yr Daniel Cormier, the new champ. Wins by tapout. 5-4 for me Wow! Good for Cormier. I did not see the fight but I suspect in order to win this fight Cormier would need to employ a ground game. Johnson is too aggressive and too powerful to exchange strikes with him. This is why Gustovson was a good matchup for johnson. Gus is a striker but he can't strike with Johnson. However, Cormier is a superior wrestler to Johnson and this is what he needed to do. Depending on the status of Jones, this sets up a rematch nicely. I'll bet Dana is working real hard to get Jones to a place where he can reinstate him.
