I know I really haven't seen many games this year, but it just seems this year that the ninth just really dont have a really standout team this year. Dixie, Connor, Boone County, and alot of other teams this year are OK but nothing special this year. The only team that seems to have the pieces to be a great team this year is Beechwood but from what I have been hearing they haven't been playing as good as their capable of especially with swinging the bats. Finally CovCath seems to be no where near as tough as they usually are this year.

 

It seems to me that the ninth region as a whole has gone down the last 2 years. I know from I believe 2000 to 2004 the ninth region had alot of top teams in the region every year. I know my senior year in 2004 their were a number of really tough teams that year with CovCath, Beechwood, Dixie, Connor, and Ludlow just to name a few that probably if they played this year would have an easy run at winning the region this year.

 

It just seems that this year like last year there really is not as many top teams in the region like it usually has. So I was just wondering if anyone else feels the same way about the 9th region being down the last 2 years and especially being true for this year!

It is a bit of a down year but when you look at the talent all around that has graduated the last two years its to be expected. What team hasnt lost some very great players. You had Wera, and Slusher, and them at BW, Severson and Muck and them at CCH, Jones, Brockman, Morris and them at Dixie. Scutter from Lloyd, A lot of the 9th region superstars from last year have graduated and left a lot of teams with some huge shoes to fill.

I think overall the ninth is leveling out, but Beechwood seems to be the only team who has that one dominant pitcher that could take them far in Curley and also the role players in Muth, Neuman, and Moore who could also take the mound on any given day and beat the best in not only nky but the state. It seems to me that many of the top teams are just a bit young and inexperienced right now, but by the end of the year, the ninth as a whole will be up. Many teams are young this year with all the holes they had to fill last year, with the exception of Beechwood, which is why the ninth may seem down right now and everyone is beating everyone.

:thumb: Thats true there had been just so many great players the last few years, that kind of spoiled us in the ninth region. Thats probably why it just seems down to me this year since there really isn't as many great players right now because there is just alot of inexperienced and young players playing this year. Probably next year though after these players get more experience we could look for the ninth region to be on its way back up again!

Great point, when you lose the caliber of those players, its hard to follow them up the next year. :thumb:

Sounds right. Right now he's really itching to get back out there. He wants to be able to hit this weekend, but he meets with Colosimo tomorrow to see if that's possible.

I don't think he'll be pitching for the rest of the season... maybe for summer ball.

He's going to talk to the doctor and his therapist to possibly do that this weekend for the Boyd County trip. He has his fingers crossed.
