Meyer gets Contract extension thru 2020 / pay raise

Featured Replies

tOSU has given coach Urban Meyer a contract extension thru 2020 and pay raise that will put Meyer to around $ 6.5 million per year. That raise will bring Meyer (38-3 in 3 yrs., 1 Big10 Championship, 1 National Championship) to the highest paid coach in the Big 10.

I am glad for Meyer, who along with N. Saban at Alabama is the best football coach in America.

I figured he was already the highest in the Big Ten, surprised he wasn't. For sure deserves the big bucks.

^ I thought so as well. I don't know, forgot what Michigan gave Harbaugh but they probably put his above Meyer / OSU just to top the Buckeyes. I think I heard something about a rivalry between the two.;)

Earning every single penny IMO

He absolutely is. As the old school Houstion Oilers coach Bum Phillips said about Bear Bryant ...."He may not be in a class by himself but it sure as hell doesn't take long to call the roll" and "He could take his and beat yours or he could turn around and take yours and beat his".

Meyer didn't say it.

Thanks for the clarification.

Years ago I suggested OSU should hire a certain high powered coach. The response then from a friend, who happened to be a Vols fan was: "Sounds like champagne taste on a beer budget." Well, it looks like the champagne is flowing in Columbus now.
