Much appreciated. I'll see what I can do. Is Posey an injury risk or just set to regress to the mean?

Posey swung fantasy leagues in the 2nd half last year. He's one of the few catchers who can hit .300. Catchers of course break down and need days off but I think he's gonna play first a bit this year also. He's very consistent.

I'd try to get another power bat in the OF, wonder who's on the wire and who you can get for Tanaka/Fernandez.

Much appreciated. I'll see what I can do.

Not sure I get trading away the best C in the game.

You can't go wrong with having Posey on your roster. He's an elite catcher, and easily one of the top 3 (if not THE best). Just a personal preference really. I think you can trade him for an elite hitter & find a serviceable catcher in a 10-team league.

What it boils down to for me is that I think Posey's trade value is higher than his actual value. He's likely going to hit 20 HR & 90 RBI, but that doesn't necessarily make him an elite fantasy option. It does, however, make him one of the best options at catcher.

It should be noted that I typically play head-to-head rather than roto. I suspect Posey is more valuable in roto leagues due to his consistency.

Is this a prototypical 5x5 league? 5 offensive categories and 5 pitching categories?

If so, one strategy I've heard of implementing is focusing your pitching on Closers. That way, you will more than likely win Saves, ERA, and WHIP, thereby giving you 30 of the possible 50 pitching points with ease. Also, look to see if you have an innings limit for pitching. Then you will be able to focus almost exclusively on hitting come draft day.

You may want to trade away Gio or even Jose to acquire a better OF power hitter. With Ellsbury and Davis, and to a lesser extent Kipnis (who IMO is overrated), you should be able to compete in steal without issue.

I'd be concerned with Zimmerman as health is a big issue, but getting Pence back will definitely help your OF strength.

BBJ raises a good point -- it's tough to give any meaningful advice without knowing the scoring settings.

5X5,

H, R, HR, AVG, OPS;

K, QS, Holds, ERA, WHIP

Holds?! REALLY?!

Yep.

Then why did you draft Chapman?

I would try and acquire as much power as I could if I were you. Look for guys who have OPS's around .800 as they usually get one base and frequently score. It's tough to find guys with solid OPS at 2nd and SS, but you have a decent player at both positions.

If I were you, I'd keep two bench Position players (one OF and one If), I would drop R. Davis immediately, and then try and get holds with the three spots you just opened up.

JMO.

In deeper Roto leagues... I'm rolling out either Jon Jay or Randal Grichuk depending on who gets the start. Jay will be a .300 hitter and gets on base and Grichuk provides great pop and will start mostly against lefties. Only concern is whether or not Grichuk is getting AB's to stay with the big club. Mozeliak said the other day that the "sky is the limit" when you see his raw power, but they want to make sure he continues to develop and is playing a decent amount.

5X5,

H, R, HR, AVG, OPS;

K, QS, Holds, ERA, WHIP

Those categories strike me as very odd...

I'd be VERY HEAVY on starting pitching (with maybe 1-2 relievers) and VERY HEAVY with power.

Sorry, saves is also a category. I had a typo on the earlier post. It's 6X6.

Javier Baez is out there too. I know he's got potential power, but some holes in his game elsewhere.

Most on here seem to indicate that seeking a trade is the best way to go and try to move something to get power. What's a category I could sacrifice in or a trade that I could offer straight up, maybe a SP for some power at a position where I'm weak right now?

Most guys in my league are big stats and FanGraphs guys, so if there's a guy Sabermetricians love, then that's my best bet.
