Are the Bengals still looking for help at LB?

Featured Replies

According to the Sun, Copeland was timed at 4.52 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the combine, and the Bengals, Chiefs, Jets and Vikings were other clubs the linebacker considered before joining Detroit, where he’ll compete for a reserve role.

Each story like this has me more concerned about Tez.

Anyone got anything on his recovery?

Well if the Cincinnati sports curse history stays true Tez will never be the same player again. Carson Palmer, Joey Votto, Geno Atkins, and now Tez. The other three careers went down after they signed their big contract and then tore up their knee, and well Tez signed his big contract and now tore up his knee. So I am going to assume history will keep repeating itself. The Cincinnati area can't have star players, and if we do have star players they hurt themselves right after we sign them to a long term deal. So its basically a guarantee that if we do extend Green to a long term deal he will blow his knee out shortly after.

I hope I am completely wrong, but its just frustrating because this thing happens not just to the Bengals but just to Cincinnati area in general when we have star players.

When I get off work I will try to post the video of him working out back in February. He doesn't look like his knee bothers him at all. I think they are more worried about the concussions.

I'm sure he looks good in non-contact drills. It's the concussions that are the problem. Tez started several games last year only to be ruled out for the game after his first tackle.

I wonder if they can get him a special helmet like the Bills safety Kelso had in the 90s?

Concussions if and only if he gets back on the field and back to his old self if he recovers from his knee surgery. The knee is the main concern and problem right now with him.

I'm way more worried about the concussions than his knee.

The type of knee surgery he had is a knee surgery that most people do not come back the same from. The knee surgery he had changes players more than people who have had ACL injuries.

to answer your question, yes, they should be looking at LB's. The injury bug has hit Burrfict hard, Lemur isn't talented enough, Meyaluga has a ton of snaps played and has nagging injuries and AJ is in the same situation as Rey.

I'm familiar with the micro fracture surgery. Still more worried about the concussion issues.

If his knee is not the same he won't be all over the field to even have a chance to lead with his head. I will say this though the knee thing probably was a good thing in regards to concussions though, because it did get him away from contact for basically a year now once he gets back at it.

I thought I was familiar with the micro fracture therapy in that it is becoming more "routine" like an ACL surgery. (Feels weird to use ACL and routine in the same sentence, might not have been the best word). What am I missing on the micro fracture? Why is it so intense?

True the knee looks great with him standing there not moving. Great evidence. I am glad to see he has recovered faster than anyone ever has with that type of knee surgery that has ended players careers. He probably was running and doing cuts the next day after his surgery with how fast this recovery has been and knee seeming to be perfectly fine now judging by this pic.
