Knox Central's Ramsey is a UK Wildcat!!

Featured Replies

Matt Ramsey finally announced that he will be playing at UK this fall. He agreed in February to become a preferred walk on, but he waited to announce his decision until after he took the ACT. He was recruited by Coach Joker Phillips who was impressed with his speed and size. Coach Caragher was also impressed with his ability as a running back. Matt is the only athlete from KC to play NCAA Division I in 25 years. Congrats, Matt!

Congrats, good to see two Knox County boys, plus Chris Cessna for North Laurel playing for the Cats in the fall.

That is great! What is his size?

Ramsey is 6'2' and weighs 205. He is running 3 miles a day and lifting 5 days a week.

Did he have any offers?

Always good to see a kid stay in-state and get the opportunity to play on the next level. Congrats to Ramsey.

That's great! What an exciting thing for the KC program.

Super! Gotta luv those in-state kids that truly bleed BLUE! Good luck in pursuit of your athletic dream.

Oliver White playerd at UK in the mid 80's with Jerry Claiborne. Went to the Hall of Fame Bowl lost to West Virginia and beat Wisconsin. He started at tight end.

Oliver was at the blue and white game, but I didn't get to talk with him. He was a great player, it was amazing that he didn't play at KC until his senior year and was so good. I was told he has a son at UK, but I don't know if he is playing football or not.

Oliver was a great athlete. He won the state track titles in the long jump, triple jump, and 110 high hurdles. He could jump out of the gym. Ran a 4.5 40 for a tight end.

Oliver was a tremendous athlete for Knox Central. I have seen him run over opposing players as well as split high hurdles in 2 when he hit them. Big, strong, fast and tough.

I actually saw him at a high school basketball game a few years ago. He married a girl I knew from London. Great guy as well! :thumb:
