Jason Strader to be named Russell Head Coach

Featured Replies

Middle school coach at Ashland this season coached 6th and 7th grade had good teams. 7th grade finished 5th place at KBA state last month. Has also been assistant under Biggs at Ashland and also an assistant at Fairview. Had some talented players at Ashland this year I wonder if this is true any of those players will follow him to Russell. In the 16th region middle school conference they never lost.

From what I here Harold Tackett will be back at Greenup, I no a lot of kids don't want to play for him. They might end up at Russell. just my OP

Best of luck to Coach Strader.

:whistling::idunno: Transfers might be his only shot to win there in the near future. Best of luck to the new coach.

Great coach. It's one of those situations where ....."if you coach them....they will come"....lol I can see a few transfers coming in to be able to play for the man. He's that well liked.

I am sure the new Russell coach will try to get some of those good Ashland kids to join him. But that might be a challenge. Ashland is still Ashland and they will have a new coach!!

Strader will do well at Russell in my opinion. He knows his basketball and is a likeable person, he will have no problem getting kids to come out and play.

He is definetly a guy kids will want to play for. I don't see him trying to influence kids to transfer however, he won't need to. Had Ashland fired Biggs a little sooner, Strader may have been Ashlands new coach. Ashland does have some talent coming up through the system, they just need to make the right hire to make sure the talent stays in the system and actually wants to play for the coach for a change.

I haven't heard of any Ashland kids names thrown up. I'd say Ashland kids will stay at Ashland.

Unless Ashland can't find a decent coach, I don't see anyone transferring out of Ashland just to go play basketball. Strader will be a good one for Russell in my opinion, but as you mentioned, Ashland is still Ashland. I imagine Ashland has all of their ducks in a row and have had some coaches lined up for a while now.
