Let me start by saying that I know nothing about GC....with that being said, are you guys in school with these kids or in practice everyday? Do you know about kids' attitudes in practice, if they are getting in trouble in school, if they are good teammates, coachable in practice, do they respect the coaching staff and do what they are asked behind closed doors?

 

All of those can be HUGE factors when it comes to playing time. Just because you know a kid is better than the one playing ahead of him does not mean that he should be out there. Are we forgetting that this is high school and that coaches are shaping young men for the future? Sometimes playing time is the only way to reach a kid and to get him to understand that attitude and effort matter in practice and in the classroom. I just think it is very short sighted to think just because you know that the kids on the bench have more talent than the ones playing that they should automatically be in the game.

 

It's also a bit cheap in my opinion to blame all the team's shortcomings and losses on the coach, but when they win you guys act like it was in spite of him. You can't have it both ways. Again, I know nothing about the school, team or coach, but just would like to know how close you guys actually are to the program to make the statements that you make. I understand being disappointed when you feel your team should have a better record, but sometimes the issues are deeper than just rolling a ball out and letting your best five players play.

 

 

FWIW -- Not my team . Just a guy that knows some hoops . And according to your criteria no one outside the staff and a parent could ever say anything about the way a coach goes about his/her business . You dont have to set in on practices and be " in the inner circle" to know GC is poorly coached . If you have not seen them play how about just not commenting ? You are making judgements about a team you have not seen . If you have watched them , my apologies .

And if the coach made some move to put his team in good position to win I'd say so . LC went 2-9 from the FT line in the 4th Q . GC's fine PG hit a 26 Footer off the dribble with 10 secs left and then knocked the ball loose to a team mate with 1 sec left . Nothing I saw was worthy of saying the coach had anything to do with miracle comeback . Just an opinion . Take it for what it is .

. No not at practice, but I do know the kids don't get in trouble at school, most have very good grades, so that doesn't seem to be a problem. Most of the time if a team has a kid that is not coachable , and is a problem word gets out. I have never herd this about any player. I know 4 of them play baseball and if they where not coachable and a problem coach Logan would not put up with them. In my op Harold lost control of the team along time ago. From what I hear , most kids don't want to play for him. And I hope they play next year, many are very upset.

And as for having it both ways, if you lose a bunch of games and don't do much change in play, system or players , then win. Should the coach get the credit ? Harold has had 3 losing seasons in a row, the last 2 years should have been really good, but wasn't. Yes they have won a few district, and a regional game last year , but crazy things have happened in each. If your not around you wouldn't know how bad it is, not 1 person that knows Greenup basketball on here has took up for him, and there are many who agree. Harold just has no clue, and needs to move on.

You got awfully defensive for someone asking questions. I asked if you knew these things, didn't pass judgement on you, not sure where you got that from. And I also didn't say a coach can't be criticized. Like you have said in the past, if you don't like what I say don't read it.

You're right, I don't know how bad it is and that is why I asked those questions. Thanks for answering instead of chastising me for an opinion.

That part of my post was not directly as you per say, just an opinion on what I've seen in this thread. Also, I wasn't talking about giving a coach credit when you don't feel he deserves it, I was more talking about acting like when they win it is in spite of his coaching. To me that is having it both ways.
