We have had the multi-sport/single-sport debate numerous times and it usually sparks a good discussion.

Mason County has had solid football teams for several years. Maybe not world-beaters but it's hard to argue with Coach B's success.

Perhaps their best team was the '03 state semi-finalist squad that lost to Highlands by a score in the Freezer Bowl. Led by all-state wide receiver Chris Lofton and QB Dustin Grutza; who had some success on the hardwood as well.

Sounds good, but those Jimmies and Joes don't just fall off trees. Solid development and feeder system is critical.

That's why I put coaching #1.

And in some areas, they do fall off trees.

Or arrive on planes and busses, carrying suitcases.

Great coaching is a must! You can have all the talent in the world which will win you alot of games but when facing a great coach with as much or close to same level of talent the great coach will come out on top.

Put this in your thinking cap. Baseball is way more of an issue when sharing athletes than football.

At HHS currently you only have two Sophs committed to basketball and no other sport and both are talented enough to go back to football if they desired. Your current entire Junior basketball class plays football and you projected two point guards are both talented football players add in late playoff runs and you get the recipe.

Coach Listerman has required more work in the offseason, but I too state until more basketball only kids the program will stay the course.

No.

Yeah , we'll continue to keep that a secret.
