I saw Michael Romes refereeing several games last week. He had quite a career on the court. What other current refs were top notch players "back in the day"?

Michael Romes is already doing college games as well. He has a chance to move up.

Gerald Grey who refs in Louisville could flat out play. He played for Iroquois in the early 80's. They were regional runner-up three straight years 80,81,82. His son is a freshman at PRP may be starting.

Is this Mr. Gray?

Trevor Wellbrock is also an up-and-coming 9th region official. Played at CCH - graduated around 2010.

Michael and his Dad do a ton of Middle School games as well. No reason for those guys to be out of shape whatsoever.

If Bob had wanted to he could have been a really good official.

Tony Henderson from Conner, I believe he now only does college games, he did ref the UK/ Texas A&M game this year.

I didn't know that. What year did he graduate?

Jon Campbell just does college now. Played at Scott and maybe NKU.

Brett Ruckel is on his way up the officiating ranks. He just graduated from Lewis County (c/o 2014) but he is already calling middle school, freshmen, and I believe JV games as well. He finished as Lewis County's second all-time leading scorer at just over career 2,000 points. He is attending Shawnee State University and playing golf.
