Kobe Bryant says he won't stop recruiting Rajon Rondo

Featured Replies

The Lakers are desperate. They have one valuable rookie (with a broken leg) in Julius Randle. They have a lot of cap space but their key star is 36. Their second-best player shoots 37 percent from the field. But they're the Lakers. They always feel that salvation and a return to dominance is one swing of fortune based on their weather and history of success away. And so it is that Kobe Bryant told the Boston Herald he plans to continue pursuing Rajon Rondo in free agency.

Bryant took particular interest in the late-December trade of Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks. He and Rondo had breakfast together when the Lakers were in Boston early last month, and it was widely assumed that Bryant was doing a little early recruiting on the point guard who becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.

While Mavericks owner Mark Cuban expressed confidence his club can and will sign Rondo to a new deal, Bryant told the Herald he's not about to cease working on getting him to LA.

“No way,” Bryant said. “I'm not done. I'm not stopping until he signs an extension.”

Could Bryant get in trouble for this? I remember during Lebron's free agency before he went to South Beach Cuban got fined for saying "We would like to have Lebron on our team."

Also, I've read an article in ESPN the Magazine explaining that Kobe is the best and worst thing to ever happen to the Lakers.

Best -- 5 Championships

Worst -- Nobody good wants to play with him (Shaq, Dwight Howard)

ESPN is stupid. The Lakers are the most valuable franchise in the NBA. I'd say Kobe Bryant is the best thing to ever happen to the Lakers. Only in our society is a person who won 5 championships in a 19 year career for one team and played a large part in making them the most valuable NBA franchise ever is he considered bad for the Lakers.

Kobe is no different than any other real star athlete. Pushy, demanding, arrogant, stressing, willing, and in their prime "winning"

I don't like the fit until I see other pieces put into to place.

Also if Rondo and Randle are on the Lakers does that mean I have to root for them ? I feel dirty thinking about it

NO one wants to play with Kobe if they have the choice.
