I agree. I'm not sure. They are playing with a lot of confidence. And seem to be overwhelming teams. You are going to have to have multiple ball handlers and scorers to beat them. Both HHS and HC have that, but you really don't know until you see their game speed. They are overwhelming teams with not very many key ball handlers. It will be interesting to see the matchup, regardless of the outcome. That other thing you don't hear too much about is their rebounding...how fast they are to the ball and how many second chance looks they get. I think both HC and HHS are the toughest matchups in the ninth for them. It may come down to who can keep their composure under pressure if the games stay tight throughout.

And a tough break for HHS, come Regional time.

 

Regardless of 35th District outcome, HHS in all likelihood will have to beat BOTH Holy Cross and Holmes (unless NDA upsets one of them) to win a Regional. (Same thing on boys side .. NCC will likely have to beat BOTH CovCath and Holmes.)

Holmes has the advantage vs. any team right now in Game 1 because the opponent simply can't simulate Holmes' press and defensive intensity in practice sessions. I would exect closer games when opponents such as NDA, Holy Cross and Highlands play 'em a second time in district or regional contests.

This score tells me Holmes wanted to send a message to the rest of the 9th region. Expected a Holmes win big but not a 50+ point blowout.

Most of Bishop Brossart's points came from the free throw line. I would venture to say 17 of the24 points scored were free throws. Holmes' defense is what teams are going to have a lot of trouble with. Their defense is relentless.
