Heads up for the beginning of next week

Featured Replies

As I stated in another post, the beginning of next week should be watched. The time period I'm talking about is Monday night into Tuesday morning. During the day Monday it looks to start out as rain. Overnight is what we need to watch. Looking at the upgraded GFS model it is showing snow and ice for parts of Kentucky. As of now it is showing most if not all of WKY getting ice. The ice should start in Central Illinois and then move towards WKY. The rest of Kentucky south of the I-64 corridor all the way to EKY is looking at snow. NKY looks to miss out.

Now let me emphasize that this is a very preliminary look at 6 days out and it is subject to change as we get closer. Also there is absolutely no way to predict how much if any accumulations. I just wanted to give a heads up.

I'll be posting updates as we get closer to the time period. Have a blessed day.

I forgot to put this in my previous post. It is also showing snow for Sunday but will change over to rain Sunday afternoon. If NKY sees anything from this it looks to be during this time period. Overnight Sunday into Monday.

With the 50 or so weather yesterday and today in nky will the ground be cold enough for ice?

Temps are forecast to have the lows in the mid to low 20's by Monday night.

To show how much it looks like the weather is going to change over the weekend there is a 20-30 chance that we might see some snow now this weekend. Now let me say again that there is no way of knowing how much,if any, accumulation.

Also don't let these warm temps fool you we are still in the season of winter. Starting around the beginning of next week we are in for another taste of below normal cold winter temps. That is according to the new temperature outlook maps released yesterday.

Thanks for the update. Someone had told me this morning that theyd heard eastern Kentucky could possibly get some snow this weekend, maybe as much as 4 inches. This confirms it might happen.

I wouldn't put too much stock in any accumulation forecast this far out.

I'm wanting to wait until tomorrow to see the new model updates. I might then post my possible snow accumulation forecast. If the trend continues that I saw this evening we may be in for a interesting weekend. I might go into winter weather threat mode tomorrow for this weekend.

Come to Bowling Green. You'll never fear snow or ice. #BGDOME

I'm going to go ahead an go into a Winter Weather Alert. The trend that I saw last night has continued with this morning's model run and things are coming together much faster than the earlier outlooks showed.
