Cordia 66 West Jessamine 56

I say that is a big hell no on that also. Cordia called Buckhorn and talked to John Nobel about playing a jv game he said he would, but the superintendent had told him that no Perry County schools were allowed to play them. Perry Co should hang their head in shame. Three of the people that was at the heart of Cordia's investigation are now sitting on the bench for Perry Co.

That is sad that the schools don't get along well with one another, but it is what it is.

Perry Central would be a convenient venue because it is actually closer to Cordia than Knott Central, although Cordia is located in Knott and not in Perry. Cordia has a Hazard address.

It's just an opinion of mine but with Cordia playing a state power such as Ballard, possibly the next state champion, that a larger gym would be nice to showcase the game and make some revenue for the Lions. Hazard's Memorial Gym would also be a good option. I know there's several from my home county of Owsley that would try to attend the game, but not if it means driving iver an hour and maybe not being able to see the game because the small gym is already packed.

I thought I saw them at one point with two losses, one to Sheldon Clark, and another to an Ohio team in the Christmas Tournament there. But now it shows they only played two games in Ohio. Did they only play two games there?

This is why I love the 14th region, old school. Are there any schools in the 14th that refuse to play one another still, because of past transgressions or has that all been cleared up? I loved that as well

I think most of the schools will play one another with the exception of this recent flare up between Cordia and the ones mentioned. Crosstown rivals Hazard and Perry Central began rescheduling again after a two year hiatus.

A little history to throw out, my school, Owsley County, didn't play district rival Lee County between 1953 and 1977 because of a fight over a seat at a district tournament basketball game in 1953 between Owsley's principal and a prominent Lee County businessman. The principal was at Owsley from 1948 until he retired at the end of the 1976-77 school year. The next year Owsley and Lee resumed playing. It is almost always the largest gate for either team every year. I was happy to see it resume because the county seats of Booneville and Beattyville are only 10 miles apart, about a 15-20 minute trip between the schools. There hasn't been a single negative incident between the schools in the 35 years since they started rescheduling games. Good for both fan bases and the kids IMO.

I was thinking there was a longer hiatus between those two. Could have been thinking about someone else though

Cordia's size will give just about any team problems. They are huge. That west jessamine team is good they shoot the ball really good. Cordia could be an offensive juggernaut if they did not have such a thin bench. They only have 8 players and they play a little conservative but when they do get out in transition their athleticism really shows. It is not listed on the khsaa but it is in the works Ballard will be coming to the creek on jan 24.

Please refresh my bad memory, but why is Cordia scheduing games on the fly? I have completely forgot what the situation is there, if there is one

I would suggest that any fan attending a game at Cordia carry a little flashlight so you can see to get back to your car. Seriously, no lighting to speak of around the gym.
