Bears hire John Fox as coach

Featured Replies

He agreed to a four-year deal, sources told ESPN. There will be a news conference on Monday at 11 a.m. CT.

Fox becomes Chicago's third head coach since 2012, taking over for Marc Trestman, who was fired Dec. 29, along with general manager Phil Emery, after posting a 13-19 record over two seasons. The Bears have missed the postseason for four consecutive years.

Fox produced a record of 46-18 over four seasons with the Denver Broncos, leading the club to a postseason in every year of his tenure, while winning the AFC West in each of those years.

Fox has a pretty darn good track record. I think Chicago is a good fit for him and for the Bears. He will fix the defense and the culture. And if he can take a team to the playoffs with Tebow at QB like he did before Manning got to Denver, then surely he can get enough out of Jay Cutler to win games.

Been a Bears fan my whole life, this is the best option they could hope for. I don't know what in the heck is going to happen next year, I don't have high hopes, goodness knows can't be any worse than this year.

Fox is the first coach with NFL experience they've hired since the 50's.

I like this hire. He's taken two teams to the Super Bowl. Guy can coach.
