Not a Lambert fan at all. He didn't sound good with Queen imo. Just didn't fit in.

Paul Rogers is one of my all time favorite rock n' roll singers of all time, but with that said I just couldn't see him being the right fit for Queen. It really made no sense.

 

Brian May is quoted as saying that "Adam Lambert has been a gift from God for them".

 

Sure, he doesn't sound like Freddie, but then again he isn't trying to, but he does bring to the job an excellent flexible outstanding voice, and an undeniable fresh exciting stage presence.

 

In the video I've provided of Marc Martel, he'd perhaps also be a good choice with his dead-on Freddie sound, and he even somewhat resembles him, but instead of them being a parody of themselves or looking like a tribute band, having Adam front and center gives them a chance to bring Queen into the present without destroying any of their past.

 

I think, and the members of Queen would agree, that he's been an excellent choice.

OK, is this guy in some popular band or something I should've known about? I'm still having problems with the concept of him singing Freddie's songs. I grew up a big Queen fan, so I'm really having issues here.

I like the idea of an unknown being the front man. Van Halen or Van Hagar comes to mind when you bring in a guy from another group.

He brings a bit of flamboyancy as well. Not Freddy but still a little different.

While it may appear that I'm raising Adam Lambert up to be some sort of god, I will add that although he has an undeniably fantastic voice, on many occasions his over the top high note shrills to classic tunes feels a bit overkill to me and can get on my nerves.

 

Sometimes vocal gymnastics can kill the original passion of certain tunes and big voice or not, they can just start sounding ridiculous.

 

I'd rather hear him stay in a decent range with his renditions of these Queen classics rather than hearing him go all crazy and over the top with a varied assortment of classic rock tunes across the spectrum.

 

He undoubtedly has a future in what I detest about him if, and whenever the Queen duties dry up, but for now this is where I find him most exciting, and am really not looking forward to seeing his future destruction of great tunes that many listeners might consider amazing.

This brings to mind Journey and their youtube discovered excellent Perry replacement Arnel Pineda. He's obviously a great choice, and I was excited with his back story, and being discovered.

 

With that said, years ago I went to a Journey show not knowing what to expect when they had a replacement named Steve Augeri. I sorta went in expecting to be disappointed and came away stunned at how fantastic he was. You could see it in the faces of everyone in the audience that night how perfect a choice he was.

 

That show turned out to be as fun a show as you could imagine, especially when going in my expectations were low.

 

According to his bio, Steve Augeri toured as Journey's front man for 8 years.

Van Halen broke up in 1985, as far as I'm concerned. Sammy Hagar is a pox on rock'n'roll history.

That's cool, and I can see where some might not dig him as their new lead singer. You should let the members of Queen know how you feel and perhaps they'll take your thoughts into consideration.

 

That is of course if you can catch a minute with them in between them counting their stacks of cash, and shielding fans from clambering at the chance of ripping an article of clothing off of him.

Is that the same show where Foreigner was the warm up at Riverbend? If so, I went pumped for Foreigner not knowing about Lou Gramm's illness and was disappointed with them and was thinking "Wow, Lou has sure gotten pretty bad", and then the Journey show that I didn't expect much from was the part of the double bill that knocked my socks off.
