I guess I witnessed a different game than ennam did. The so called goon squad was the same group that cut the Dixie lead to four in the second quarter. Perhaps that's why Faust played them in the fourth quarter. Also I believe Rabe was playing when St. Henry made that run.

 

I've never before seen a bunch of 5'9", 165 lb kids called goons in high school but I guess that's in the eye of the beholder. They were giving up an average of at least four inches and thirty pounds across the board but they were quick and aggressive on defense and offense.

 

From a St. Henry fan perspective I didn't notice the referees changing the way they called the game but that's subjective.

 

All of that said, Dixie has a very good team and an excellent defense.

 

Wish I would have recorded this game.

 

I can emphatically say that Rabe got hurt at the very start of the 4th quarter and Dixie was up 15 or 16.

 

I can also say with 100% accuracy that the coach for St Henry was instructing his players to give hard fouls and to be careful not to give an intentional foul.

 

I lost all respect for St Henry that night. The player stomping on Rabe's ankle while he was on the ground and then laughing about it will not be forgotten.

 

Also, the official score keeper for St Henry showed lots of class when he turned around and called one of our fans an "idiot" for yelling at a ref's call.

 

There's no love between these teams... can't wait to see them play again in Districts.

I was at the game and I would agree that Dixie has the more talented team and they were up at least 15 when the guard got hurt. I would disagree with the goon squad, the coach put in the small line-up to put alot more pressure on the ball and they were being very aggressive, I do agree the refs were not calling the game as tight as they should have which led to St. Henry being even more aggressive.

 

If a kid for St. Henry stomped on the Dixie players ankle when he was on the ground then I dont blame the Dixie team for being upset as that is wrong!!

 

Dixie has a nice team and if they continue to improve and play together they can compete with the top two teams in the region.

I was not in attendance, but I believe Northside's take on going with a smaller line up to amp up pressure is probably accurate. Dave Faust has never shown anything but class and has taught core values in the 3 decades plus that I have know him.

 

If you going after "goon style" tactics, wouldn't you have left Kunstek in? The kid has the size to be a D1 linebacker!
