San Jose Police Officer Placed On Leave After Tweeting About "Right to Kill"

Featured Replies

Well, at least he isn't Aaron McNamara (former auxiliary officer for the Fairview Park, Ohio PD), so there's someone around to take the heat off him some. That kid took the definition of idiocy to another level with some comments he left, then trying to deny it was him.

Wow, he did that department a favor by being so ignorant and putting his true feelings out there for everyone in the world to read.

Dear lord that guy has some issues, and luckily for the public is a complete idiot.

My problem with these types of things is that, while this could be the first time something like that has happened, it probably isn't. Assuming that, then there probably should either have been less tolerance for the event initially or a more stringent screening process, and that had there been, then a whole department's work wouldn't have been tainted by that single officer.

For example, I'm going to bet that the officer who attacked the hospital patient was probably assigned to the hospital for a reason, and it wasn't because he was doing so great interacting with people in other situations. In my line of work and living in a large city with all types of officers, I've interacted with lots of police officers, and some of the worst ones have been the ones that their departments trust with the least authority. I don't think it's a coincidence that the ones I hold in higher regards are also ones who've usually achieved a higher rank (though rank isn't the end-all be-all, just kind of a general observation on my part).

I don't hate all police or anything like that, but it is somewhat irritating to me to see officers get away with things that would have me fired in under an hour if I pulled them at basically any job I've had once I entered college.
