Unlike others, I have no problem with Covcath scheduling Bellevue and actually think it's good for Bellevue to approach a team like Covcath and try to get better. Kudos to Ruthsatz for allowing his assistant to schedule the game. (His assistant coach handles all of the scheduling, from my understanding)

It's very simple, for a team to be able to schedule "up" an "up" team has to be willing to schedule them. Scheduling is a two-way street. Coaches who get that are usually willing to assist teams that want to get better and play a little above their heads maybe. Coach Ruthsatz strikes me as one of those guys who gets it and I know for a fact that the Bellevue guys are wanting to challenge their kids. If you're going to measure your program, then why not measure against the best? After all, it is a single class sport right? All you traditionalists out there should have absolutely no objection to this.

So they play Trinity, St. X, BELLEVUE, Campbell Co., Knott Co. Central, and then the tough "Republic Bank Classic" within the next couple of weeks.

I don't even recall the last time CovCath has ever scheduled Bellevue. Maybe the 1970's?

 

Hope there's no crazy injuries as a result of this game.

 

I honestly can't think of one thing either of these teams stand to gain from this game.

 

Perhaps for the Colonels it's to clear the bench early and often to get some of those guys some varsity minutes.

I was told at the BGP get together this weekend, that CovCath was in search of a game on this particular day an couldn't get anyone to play them and Coach Hicks from Bellevue was more than happy for his team to play the Blue Colonels.
