December 1, 201411 yr Anybody else think Neal leaving is a bad sign? Two reasons, and somebody else mentioned this first one in another thread (and, I've been telling people this all day at work): 1) Does Stoops really want to run the Air Raid? Personally, I don't think so. 2) I think Neal might have seen this as the best time to get out. Maybe he thought the ceiling was getting shorter as far as where UK could go? Went from 2 wins to 5....went from around 150 in offensive production to in the 80's. Maybe he thought that this past year, contrary to what most fans think, was the hottest the iron was going to get for a while? Just a thought (s). Stoops doesn't want the air raid but he hired Brown, that makes zero sense.
December 1, 201411 yr Personally I think he left to further his coaching resume. Who wouldn't want to go from an OC to a HC job? Especially when the fan base at the school you're the OC for isn't happy with what you've done while there? Bingo! Taking the Troy job looks like a no brainer!
December 1, 201411 yr Bring in Donnie walker!!! Maybe not as OC, but as a quarterback coach or something else associated with the offense.
December 2, 201411 yr Stoops doesn't want the air raid but he hired Brown, that makes zero sense. Not disagreeing with you, but Stoops is a smart enough guy to have learned real quick when he got here that as a whole, the Air Raid is what the fan base salivates over...it's what brought more excitement to the program than just about anything in it's history. About like Nick Saban not being a fan of fast paced, up tempo.....he's still smart enough to know that in this day and age at the collegiate level, he needed some of it (even though in the 2nd half the other night vs Auburn, they got back to business). Just saying that MAYBE, against his better judgement, he went out on a limb.....
December 2, 201411 yr I'll be honest with you...I don't care if UK lines up in the wishbone and runs it 60 times a game. All I care about is winning. Get an offensive coordinator who can run a winning offense and I'll be happy.

Especially when the fan base at the school you're the OC for isn't happy with what you've done while there? Exactly. This was the BEST time for him to get out and get one. He wants a head job, as he should. And, part of me can't help, but think that he didn't see things getting much better in the near future. You don't see many coordinators in the SEC or any power conference for that matter leaving for head jobs after losing seasons. (not that they shouldn't, b/c I personally thought Neal did a great job..especially when you look at where they came from. That's a no brainer) I'm not questioning why he left, but saying that UK fans should be concerned when he did it. All of these UK fans who weren't happy with him might want to check themselves b/c ole' Neal I think has a pretty good feeling about the future at UK and I don't think (unfortunately) that it's as promising as many hope (I hope like hell I can eat the biggest crow known to man).

I would love nothing more than to see them run the Flex bone (I was calling for Paul Johnson before Stoops, but I'm sure that got laughed at) or become an Arkansas like Brett B and crew have hung their hats on (old school, here we come baby then fed ex next day delivery shots down field) . Stayed the course, now things are starting to roll. But, that's probably for another thread.
