Did Comedian Artie Lange Cross the Line?

Featured Replies

I love the Howard Stern Show. I don't have Sirius anymore so I no longer listen like I used to but I have always been a fan. It was a great show before Artie Lange, it was a great show with Artie Lange and it is a great show after Artie Lange.

Artie was always my favorite personality on the show. He's brash, he's funny, his bank account says he is a comedian. I wasn't shocked or surprised by his words about Cari Champion at all. He's always crossed the line before and he crossed the line more than ever in this incident. He's always made way out of bounds jokes before. Just never on twitter for everyone to see. Artie is not like Kevin Hart huge so I doubt he lost any fans at all because of this. I don't like him any less.

I'd love to hear what the Howard Stern Show has to say about it. Howard has matured quite a bit in the last few years. At the same time I wouldn't be surprised at anything Howard Stern has to say about it at all.

What was he thinking - really inappropriate. ESPN is banning him from what exactly? Does he do anything with ESPN? Also, I find it interesting that he says something totally inappropriate and gets banned from ESPN (and rightfully so most likely). Ray Lewis is involved in killing a man and covering it up and he is worshipped at ESPN.

He'll never be allowed to be a guest on the network is what I got from it. He's a big time sports guy and I think he has appeared on the network maybe on shows like Mike and Mike, The Herd, things like that.

I love the Stern Show. It's probably the best produced show on radio. I think it was 10 times funnier when Artie Lange was on the show. I like that style of inappropriate (roast-type) comedy but this was over the line, IMO.

I love the Howard Stern show. It's the only reason I keep Sirius . I do think the show was better with Artie. The interviews have got a lot better in recent years but the comedic value has gone down .

Obviously this is a crude nasty joke that people will be disgusted by. But I've always been of the belief a comedian should have no limits on what he jokes about. We now want to censor comedians ? It was obviously a joke . If you don't find it funny I get it.

But I find Artie Lange hilarious . He is a troubled person but he is a very funny comedian. One of the best live acts I've ever been to.

I just don't understand people who get upset about jokes.

He is not being censored.

I was mostly referring to the Internet mafia calling for his head on twitter .

I get ESPN's stance. Comedy Central is the one that baffles me.

Agreed. Home of the Chappelle Show. :lol2:

I know you're smart so I knew you didn't truly mean censored. That post was preventative since I know some do not grasp censorship and freedom of speech.

Nice try. They called for his head also.

Some did, but a lot took up for him. No one is taking up for this idiot.

I took up for him. I don't like Bill Maher and think he's a jerk. But what he tries to do is comedy and I don't like when people try and silence comics.

I didn't slam him. I agree with Lipton on this one.

At the same time Bill Maher is bigger and more respected than Artie Lange.

He's more main stream. But as a stand up I doubt Maher has ever or could ever sell out shows like Artie.

Agreed. Home of the Chappelle Show. :lol2:

Heck if we are talking controversial Chappelle show isn't even tops of the list .

But yea you get my point . If the supposed comedy channel is going to punish comics for crossing a mythical line I don't like it.
