Didn't you just make a comment on another thread that said you never question a ref in the right position? How about one that admits he wasn't and wasn't willing to make a game changing call because of it?

 

Both.......you are absolutely correct in pointing out what I said, and I am a big enough man to admit it.......But admitting he was blocked perhaps means that he wasn't in the correct position......tough being in a position where someone doesn't block you.

 

When the ball is passed at chest level going forward and all of a sudden falls straight down at the players feet in the box, without a chest or head or body trap....then some other force stopped the ball's momentum.........

 

My issue with the no call.......if it hadn't been handled, then it was going to be a perfect through ball to a striker who then has a one on one with the keep.

I was at the game watching from behind the fence in behind the goal in question. It was a hand ball and should have been called. In my opinion, the center ref is the worst referee in NKY and needs to retire. From his whistle blowing of shoulder to shoulder challenges to his constant banter to players and coaches, CCH coach was justified in being upset. I have watched this bungling referee for 15 years and he is pathetic. Maybe I will get my ref license so that he can retire....lol

My son who was feet away from the play said it was the most obvious handling. His hand was out, and moved down to the ball which landed to his feet for his clearance. Ball would have been through for a chance at goal.

 

Maybe neither of the officials saw it, but clearly an infraction.

He can't be doing that poorly. I know I have seen him at the state tournament on multiple occasions. Could just be he doesn't mesh with nky people. Like English refs doing Hispanic games in the World Cup.

 

I appreciate your candor OTB. While being in the best position is always preferred. Admitting you aren't and being honest is second best in my opinion.

He's (center ref) not that bad, sure he did not have a great game, but "pathetic" bit harsh. Many, many worse NKY HS refs in the pool. His day has passed to be doing regional semi, but here in lies part of the problem, the assignor must do a better job. And his hands are tied a bit, just not nearly enough quality officals in the pool.

As coaches encourage their players to watch professional players to help in their development, all officials should watch as much professional games as possible to learn from the best as well.

To come over to the Coach to engage a conversation, admit he missed, or was blocked for a call and then card him when he responds in conversation........consistant........The Coach did tell him to do his job......after the REF came over........that brought out the yellow.......if the ref hadn't come over, no card.......

 

He has a history of doing that in games also......he talks to the players and gives them the feeling it is ok to talk to him.....then yellow when it happens......not just this game, but for years.

I saw it a little different. I saw him explain it to the one CCH player who was giving it to the ref pretty good (for good reason). He listened to the player, the player begged him to check with the AR. He also appeared to explain his "missed call" to the CCH bench during the run of play. It was maybe 5-7 minutes later that the CCH head coach yelled out again, thought brought out the card.

I think besides him missing the handling, which again it can and does happen at all levels, his biggest mistake was not stopping the clock and going over to consult with his AR. Just by the reaction of the players he had to know he missed something really big, that dictates he needs to check with is crew. That's why it is a 3 man system, they must work together and help each other, on this play his AR let him down.

Why do we once again let a ref have control over our threads? Was it a handball? Is he a bad ref? Was the card to the coach justified? Who cares, did you guts watch the game or just that one play? Cov Cath and Ncc have some history over the past 4 years, that's the first time Cch has beaten Ncc in the tournament in sometime. Well played by Cch, they moved the ball well and it seemed coach Robertson has really done a great job this year.
