Absolutely. Matney hates Ashland. He's had a woody for them ever since Ashland hired Larry Hall over him when Coach Marsh retired for the 1st time. He'll beat them as bad as he possibly can.

JC and Matney always seem really concerned with stats and records. They like to have the leading this or that in the state...they always do silly things like let other teams return kickoffs back in blowout games, just so the offense can rack up yards.

Is JC's defensive line a strength of their squad this season?

From what I understand, the defensive line has been a strength this season but most of the line is still very young. I have not been able to attend any games this season yet but I will probably try to make it to the Belfry game and I plan to watch the Covington Catholic game too. Johnson Central is developing the same type of team that they had in 2006 - big, physical fullbacks, a very athletic QB, and good overall team speed. Their leading receiver is averaging over 30 yards per reception and I think that their top rusher is averaging over 13 yards a carry.

Your crazy.. Those three are all rivals, they are almost always close games. If Ashland plays its best game of the season there is no possible way they would lose by 3-4 scores. Just like none of the teams you mentioned would lose by that much if they played well.

 

JC is a yard team to figure out, because they don't play anyone decent out of district. Belfry I guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if they lose that one..

 

I expect JC to beat Ashland, as Ashland has not been consistent this year. But to say that if Ashland played their best JC would beat them by 3-4 TD's is absurd.

If JC does not put the ball on the ground tomorrow night, the game could get ugly in the second half because JC will wear Ashland down with their physical play.

Raceland, Russell, and Ironton are good teams, but they are much smaller schools than Ashland and the Tomcats lost or struggled against all three teams. Ashland could play its best game of the season on Friday and still lose by three or four touchdowns.

"Could still" is not equivalent to "will."

 

If JC plays it's typical game, the Tomcats will lose big. There is no chance that a Matney-coached team will be caught looking ahead with the district title at stake.
