Sure can't type what I was told was said... the comments were evidently directed at the coach of Cooper.

 

Not sure what was going through the players head at the time, or what was said, I do know that he had only been in the match a few minutes. I did not have any problem hearing what he said when he went off the pitch, I was sitting on the opposite side of the field, top row.

 

Yes I heard that comment after the red card was issued as well, very unfortunate and immature. I just was trying to get the severity of the comment made to the Cooper Coach because if they issued a red card to every player the game would end in a 3 v 3 competition. Oh well...there is always next year.

Here's the one I don't get. The Center will often tolerate language and comments from players on the field that are directed at the Center under the theory that they can choose to have a thick skin as long as it's not heard off the field. But as soon as language or comments are directed at an AR or made loud enough that the Center thinks they can be heard off the pitch, then a card is issued.

 

Similarly, once post-season hits the standard of what language will be accepted seems to tighten up (same thing happens in state cup play).

 

In my experience, 16-17 year old boys are not the best at making nuanced judgment calls like when they might be uttering explicit language in a volume that is too loud. Adopting a bright line rule regarding language and applying it consistently would make it simpler for the boys to manage. You could add the George Carlin's 7 Dirty Words List to the pregame talk.

No history of this ever happening that I know of between Ryle and Cooper...I cannot speculate about Cooper vs. HC either but I was "told" (that doesn't make it true) that the Ryle player was provoked from the Cooper bench. It is still no excuse for the player to make any vulgar comments back. I would still like to know what the Ryle player said, maybe somebody out there can offer a "clean" version of what he said by using some well placed code words. Big game, loser has their season ended and the punishment was probably (can't say for sure) a game changer.

Before the last meeting between Ryle and Cooper there seemed to be much more build up to the game. Some posts on twitter and possibly some other social media sites. Nothing bad, just the usual competitive spirit one would expect. Countdowns to game day and "our team is better than yours" kind of stuff.

Its always bad to see a send off like that when it's not even part of the game.

I am not sure if there was anything that led up to this, I thought it came out of the blue, he was only in the match a few minutes and this might have actually been the first play that he was really involved in. The throw in was maybe about 20-25 feet from the end of Cooper's bench so I am not sure if anything was said by a Cooper player or not. The only people fairly close to him was the Cooper staff, player it went out on, and the AR.

 

I've never seen, or heard, anything between the Cooper and Ryle players, they seem to get along pretty well... they play very hard against each other and I have never seen it go beyond that. There is a good number of them that actually play, or have played, together so I do not think there is anything there... I actually remember quite a few of them sitting together a couple of weeks ago while watching their girls teams play each other at Cooper, if you did not know the boys you would not have guessed that they were from different schools.

 

I would have actually been less surprised if one of the Cooper players had said something to the Ryle coach last night... there has been some animosity there but I am thankful to say that I have not seen any of the Cooper players react to it.

I also saw some of the comments on social media before the first meeting... nothing I would call too bad... just a bunch of what my son refers to as "smack talk". I also saw some congratulations that were sent right after the match by Ryle kids with a "hope we get a chance to play again in the post season comment"... all good stuff in my opinion.

What evidence do you have of "animosity" between a Ryle Coach and Cooper Players?
