Curious to see what you 16th Region folks think about the upcoming season. I'd like to see your opinions on who the top 3 players & teams are for 2014-15.

 

Fleming County won the last 2 titles, but they lost quite a bit. Burns & Steward will be all but impossible to replace. Ashland always seems to be in the thick of things, but I don't know who they've got back. Is Rowan County the top team? And is Ryne Callahan the 16th's top player?

I think Rowan and Boyd are top teams.

I also think Bobby Anderson from Boyd, Ryne Callahan and Nick Miller from Ashland are 3 of the top players. There are others. Perry from Morgan, Jackson from Greenup.

The top teams are always a gamble because of transfers and exchange students in the region. Unless, someone went out and really improved themselves, I believe that Rowan County and Boyd County are the class of the region. However, Greenup County and Elliott County will be right there putting pressure on them.

Jackson is the best athlete in the region, but he seems to only finish at the rim (which he does well), Callahan and Miller have all around games. Anderson is very good and probably the best point guard in the region. I would put him in the next three. Wilder Williams' name could also be thrown in there.

Wilder is the big guy from Fleming County. He is the only starter returning from that team...I think he is only one with playing time returning. He is a high energy big guy and works the boards hard. I'm not sure about his jump shot, but what he does around the rim is pretty impressive. He will be a senior this year.

That's right, I remember him! Had a nice game at the state tourney against Scott County.

Dear God, did you get your toes stepped on? I praised the Perry kid from Morgan. You're usually banging their drum. Are there some transfers we don't know about? If so, I'd love to read all about them.

Justin Graham is better than Callahan. Callahan can't put the ball on the floor & create space. Without Graham & Larry Whelan he would struggle to score.

I didn't say Perry was little. Just a suggestion, why not simply post that in the first place instead of trying to belittle someone else's input? I still stand by Miller as the region's most versatile and best player. He can create space. He can rebound. He handles it pretty well. And he shoots it very well. But I probably should get out more.

Nick Miller is a very good player. My intentions were not to belittle you. Based on last season's pre-season rankings Nick Miller would be my obvious choice for number 1. Perry would be 1b.

Jordan Perry is a very good shooter/player...definitely one of the top in the region. I don't think that he is the best...but that is an opinion. If you are a Morgan County fan, you should have him high on the list. There is no problem there.

And Callahan does have Graham and Whelan on his team...so obviously it is a reason why he is good, but he's been putting up 30 and 40 point games in AAU ball this summer without them. Graham is a good defensive player, but offensively is not as good as Callahan.

It will be a great year in the 16th Region and there are a lot of good players. It should be fun to watch.

I think at this point you have to have Rowan County at the top of the heap. Best player and coach in the region.
