Of course Russelville should move up and I believe Mayfield should move a spot down.

If Russelville plays Mayfield within 7 or so, does that move Mayfield down or Russelville up or neither? I asked this a couple weeks ago and never got any input. Just curious on some of your thoughts.

I would think if you are the number 1 Class 1A team and any other Class 1A team plays you within seven points it is more of an indication of the strength of the number 1 team then anything.

 

But, of course, if any team plays the number 1 team close, both teams are going to be looked at to move.

Neither in my opinion...Mayfield is playing AT Russelville. If Mayfield wins in a close one...they win. Its not like Russelville is an unknown...they've been good for years. I just dont think you should start rewarding teams for just keeping it close. You want to move up? win the game.

The BGP rankings are not about rewarding, they are about placing teams in the order that they belong in, using what would happen if they were to play other teams in their class as a guide. There is no reward.

 

If it is expected for Russellville to beat Beechwood or Pikeville, then they will be ranked above Beechwood and/or Pikeville. And, playing Mayfield close will be an indication as to how Mayfield and/or Russellville would play against Beechwood et al.

^ I pretty much agree with you Ram. I also think if this close game did happen it might speak more to Russelville being better than people thought than Mayfield not being as strong as people thought. Also, if this is a tight game it doesn't necessarily mean Mayfield can't beat Beechwood IMO. I like your thinking on this though! :thumb:
