Never doubted it would. If there is ever a draught just have Raceland schedule Nicholas County to a football game and poof, draught fixed.

 

I'll never forget the 2010 game @ Nicholas County. I brought the family and had checked the forecast ahead of time due to excessive talk on BGP's about the infamous rainy games with NC. It was forecasted at 0% rain, Sunny and 81 for kickoff. We show up and before kickoff, a storm rolled in and blew sideways for 3/4 of the game. My soaked family were miserable and you laughed at me from the crows nest in full rain gear and a tent for cover. I was wet and cold. The only heat I had was Mrs. Sidelinedoc's burning glare.........

So, I'll never attend a Nicholas Co. game (home or away) without rain gear......

Raceland's statistician mocked me too while I was setting up the canopy, tying it down to the crows nest and putting my rain gear on with the sun shining. Then he was scrambling to cover up his stat sheets while it was raining.

The main thing is that I learned from my mistake. I have been prepared for my sideline job from that point.

Being prepared for anyting in October is a given but the Nicholas week it goes beyond that ... be it a suprising result of the game, Terrible weather - rain, lightning, high winds, sleet or however many others one could think of to having to promise police that you would be responsible for getting a very intoxicated older Ram fan out of the local "drinking establishment" bc he was throwing a fit o the bartender / owner due to not having his favored condiment on hand to car breaking down in Carslile and almost daybreak on Sat.am until you got home after working on it, finding help to an individual who shall remain nameless striking up a conversation with the entirely wrong Lady (who un un known to him was a wife of one of the Nicholas coaches and friends with the police on duty, I mean how was I ( uh ,....he :sssh:) that was the case ?

You get the idea .....Anything can and sometimes does happen on Nicholas week.

Oldrambler has more Nicholas stories then I do, but I may have been present for a few of the games he had some trouble at, just sayin'.

 

Doc, if I'm not mistaken that 2010 game was the one we have something like four on-sides kickoffs, that were not supposed to be on-sides due to our kicker not being able to plant his foot to kick off.

Hey Ram....I didn't even mention all the games when Ben Pumphrey was the coach at Nich. Now those were mostly great, competitive games. Pumphrey was a Great coach, old school football at it's best. May Coach Pumphrey RI.P., I know that he is watching KY. 1A football from the best seat anywhere.

I believe you're correct.

Rams....Congrats on going 5-1 in your First / Pre Season. That 5-1 record means absolutely nothing right now. Nicholas County is GAME 1 of your 2014 District Season.

I am sure that Coach Salmons and Staff have put in a great game plan. Work Hard - Get Better Every Day, that game plan is worthless unless you Focus on the opponent and Execute !

 

Play RAM RIDE Football and things will take care of itself.

DOC....I am innocent of the picking Nich. charges ....I fully admit to back in te 70's, early 80's I may have been in that condition. Although, thankfully the statutes of limitations have expired on some "youthful" transgressions. :sssh:
