Best American Wheat Beers

Featured Replies

I've heard many people recommend Gumballhead, but I've never gotten to try it.

This was a great summer beer, so it's a little late for that, but 21st Amendment's Hell or High Watermelon was surprisingly good and refreshing for a wheat beer.

Not much of a wheat beer guy.

Very excited that we've moved into marzen season and I'll be thrilled when all the winter stouts and porters start hitting the taps. Those are my favorites.

I plan to cling on to summer drinking season for as long as possible.

I have to admit, I'm a big fan of the stouts that come with that horrible time of year.

Educate me a little, is marzen essentially the same style sold as Oktoberfest?

I'm already into pumpkin beer. :lol2: Southern Tier Warlock is unreal.

Yeah. Marzen is the broader style of beers that get the Oktoberfest moniker.

I'm not the biggest fan of wheat beer either. My girlfriend loves Oberon.

Southern Tier Pumking is my favorite pumpkin beer. How does Warlock differ?

Same here. Warlock is an Imperial Stout instead of an Ale. And it matches Pumking in terms of awesomeness.

I hate pumpkin. Does that mean I won't like pumpkin beer? I've never tried pumpkin beer because I hate pumpkin.

Been killing Sam Adams Octoberfest since it came out. Can't wait for the Winter Lager.

Bell's Oberon is quite delicious. I also really like Southern Tier's Hop Sun. On the other end of the spectrum, Blue Moon Belgian-style wheat is mule drool.

However, all wheat beers (American and others) must bow to the king: Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. LOVE it......

It should be noted that the Alstrom Brothers (creators of the Beer Advocate web-site) awarded a rating of 100 to the Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier.

I'm not the biggest pumpkin fan around but I do like some pumpkin beers. Southern Tier Pumking being the best.
