September 19, 201412 yr Author Holy crap! For her sake I hope you are wrong. I forgot you're on here! haha I can promise that is NOT the issue. Don't tell him that!
September 19, 201412 yr Author What are your B12 levels???? Starting in April I was feeling my heart beat pounding harder than usual, headaches, and really tired. Then one day in late June I thought I was having a heart-attack. Went to the ER and come to find out my hemoglobin level was 6 (normal is 13-16), the ER doctor told me he was shocked I was still alive. :scared: My heart was pumping twice has fast to circulate what little blood I had in my body. I had to get 4 pints of blood and come to find out I have Pernicious Anemia. Pernicious Anemia is a type of vitamin B12 anemia. The body needs vitamin B12 to make red blood cells. You get this vitamin from eating foods such as meat, poultry, shellfish, eggs, and dairy products. A special protein, called intrinsic factor (IF), helps your intestines absorb vitamin B12. This protein is released by cells in the stomach. When the stomach does not make enough intrinsic factor, the intestine cannot properly absorb vitamin B12. A normal B12 level is between 200-900, mine was 49. Besides taking a B12 supplement I have to get a B12 shot every two weeks....for the rest of my life! Pernicious anemia: MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia I am ALWAYS anemic when I get a blood test done. Sounds like next time I go see my doc, I need to ask to do a fasting blood test (he's never had me fast for one) and bring up the b12 thing. It's hard because it's all periodic, and when he sees me, I'm fine. But I know my body and I know it's not been normal.
September 19, 201412 yr you can buy a blood sugar machine for 20 bucks and do a AM fasting blood sugar at your home as needed . also sounds like you need to add some iron and a B complex as a supplement. Have you been diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic ?

Have you been diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic ? No. When they do a CBC do they automatically test blood sugar? Or do I have to fast to have that tested? Now that everyone is mentioning blood sugar, the headache and the heartbeat plus it occurring after eating has me wondering...
September 19, 201412 yr no *Word Filter Violation - Edit Your Post**Word Filter Violation - Edit Your Post* is not included in a CBC , it needs to be fasting , first thing the am , and taken several times to get a constant average .

September 19, 201412 yr Author Ha Ha . Blood Sugar is commonly abbreviated something you cant use here on BGP . I noticed, haha. Ok I'll need to mention that to the doctor.
September 19, 201412 yr Hope you find out what's going on soon and start down the path to healing. Sounds like scary stuff.
September 19, 201412 yr I have no idea of what it could be that's bothering you Heels but it sounds like other BGPers have given you some solid suggestions. I hope you feel better soon!! After a year, I still haven't received an answer from any doc that explains the issues I have. So I'm hoping you get more (or any for that matter) answers than I have.

Oh man, I remember all the stuff you were going through :( I guess that's my "fear." Going through tests and telling them something is off/I feel funny and having nothing to show for it except tons of money to my insurance and the same uncomfortable feeling.

I hope you find the source of the problem. For most of us guys the last thing we want to do is go to the doctors/hospital, but as we get older our bodies ARE NOT lying to us. If you feel something is amiss, don't fool around, and take the time to get whatever it is checked out. The ER doc told me it would more than likely been a day or to before I would have had a meeting with St. Peter. :(
