Ithink the thing that really killed Ryle was the amount of 2nd and 3rd shots they gave cov cath on their firts 5 possesions of the second half. It seemed like Ryle just couldn't get their hand on the ball and every bounce fell into the colonels hands. Man is CCH dangerous in the 3rd q or what. I have seen them play a few times this year and they adjust and come out so strong to start the second half. I am looking forward to a battle on Fri night. I hope the cheering section is as loud as ever. Also wanted to say great game for Tierney, he took control of the game in the 2nd half. Go BIRDS!

9 points. Never scored in the first half. Just couldn't get things going. I believe Todd has been mixed with being ill the past week and an minor injury due to banging his knee with a Holmes player in the Districts.

Played against him a few times. Very emotional on the pitch, i can't say if it's the same way on the court. He has the ablilty to get mad and score 0 goals or get mad and score 5, and yes that did happen once, not against me though.

 

He does play with his emotions on his shoulders. He had a decent game tongiht but isn't a great ball handler and isn't a threat from the outside. He likes to run, his mouth also.

Never played against the kid. Just know from watching him 4 times this year.

Kind of a boring game. The most exciting parts were Cov Cath's student section and the player from Ryle hitting a half court shot just before the half. Cov Cath played solid enough to win by double digits, but Ryle really didn't shoot that well.

 

I'm sorry to see Ryle Senior Robbie Lykes end his career. I'm sure that it was better to end it in the Regional Tournament on his home floor. I got to know Robbie through AAU. Him and his dad are great people. Good luck to him and the rest of the Ryle seniors in the future.

Is it just me or did it seem like for awhile the gods of goofy rim rolls and miracle shots were carrying the Raiders through the 1st half? They played very hard and earned this temporary good fortune. Good luck comes to those who work hard. I said to myself as I'm sure most did that it was only a matter of time before their luck would run out and the Colonels would take over. Ryle was no pushover and they kept it pretty interesting for a good while.

It's a pleasure to watch CovCath play great TEAM ball and to do so for 32 minutes with a competent load of depth. I didn't see them lapse much, they just keep focused and plugging away understanding the big picture. They beautifully stay composed even when things temporarily don't go their way. What a nice 1,2,3,4 punch Tim T., TJ, Kurt Bovard, and Danny Noll are. And what a value it is to have spare big men and confident backup guard play that appears to versitle enough to fill whatever shoes they are called to fill. This is the kind of TEAM basketball that I foam at the mouth over.

I'm wondering though when the Colonels come Friday to play basketball and the Birds come too play football what these 5th Region refs are gonna have to say about that? They seemed to let it slide alot tonight against Ludlow, but I think, just like DJ of Holmes finally getting his wakeup call, that the Birds might just get theirs. They are one tough team and I might be a whimp to say that the game was meant to be just a tad bit more timid than they display, but jeeze, I've never seen such repetitive ugly shoves in high school basketball like I see out of this bunch. Just call me a whimp....

5th REgion officials do not call weak fouls so CCH better get ready for a physical game is all I can say. The sticky man - man will frustrate the choir boys....I hope TJ and TT can get to the hoop because that is their only chance.

If you are basing that CovCath has no depth of off the HHS-CCH game in January then your view of CovCath's team as a whole is incorrect. Any player on CovCath will admit that back then when Timmy or TJ got the ball, they stopped moving and just watched them take over. Since then they have put an emphasis on getting Bo the ball and also on the big guys looking to score and slowing down. They are easily the deepest team in this region as they go 8 or 9 deep on a normal night.
