13th Region Tournament Host

Featured Replies

I guess it depends on where you're from. If you live close the traffic don't bother you as bad. The sessions are split to insure everyone that wants to see their team will have an opportunity to get in. There will ALWAYS be gripes about passes (who cares?). Corbin radio guys will ALWAYS find something to cry about. If the Corbin radio guys have some way of checking, I'll bet they will find that this is one of the best attended 13th regional tournaments in a long time. Other than a few people having to walk 1500 feet, nothing is wrong!

Everything that I heard from the Corbin announcers was very complementary of the job Clay Co. had done. They even thought the referees had called a good game last night. There was one negative comment, they thought the time between games(almost 1 1/2 hours)was too long.

I can understand that. If it was announced to start at 9:45 and some fans arrived at that time only to find out that the game was already in the second quarter, they might get a little upset.

I thought the hour between games was alittle much, but I think the reason for that was to beable to get the 1st games Crowd out and get them out of the parking lott so the 2nd games Crowd could park closer to the school. Who knows though, Im sure its quiet difficult to plan events like this..

Good Luck 13th region teams!

The time between games is too much....not only for young children as one poster stated but these are high school kids who have to attend school and make grade....I am sure Corbin got home last night about 12:00. Better planning and less time between games would be better.

They originally suggested 6 and 9 at the meeting, which is insane.

The North-Bell game had been over for 15 minutes or more when they started the clock at 60 minutes before the South-Lynn Camp game. It should have been 6 and 8 start times.

Actually, it's not that difficult. It really is pretty easy if you have good people on board.

Yea I guess if you live in Clay County there,s not that much traffic. Do you really think that if the sessions weren't split that some people wouldn't get to see the game. I don't think so. The reserved sittting has not been have full. It may have been at the Clay game but that would have been the only one.

Clay Co is a small town which means when lotts of people come to town all trying to go to the same place your going to have traffic. The reserved seatings where alot more full at the Clay Co game, but I have noticed alot of Corbin people and South people have bought Reserved seating. They are making pretty good profit of those reserved seats but it has to be split between all teams in the region...

The only complaint I have is about the hour between games, it should be 30:00 minutes or maybe 45..But I am glad its split session because if it wasnt you would have all the teams fans before just staying and watching some of the other game and then it would make it hard for the teams that was playings crowd to have good seats and beable to have their cheering crowd...

but hey this america no matter what you do you are going to have people complain.

The first round crowds have not been overflow crowds. Beginning Friday night it will take much longer to get the North/South fans out and the Clay/Barbourville fans in. Then you will see why this much time was allowed.

I was at the first game of both nights. The gym was about half full both nights. I just thought the teams would have enjoyed playing in front of a full gym. More of a Region atmosphere. They wouldn,t have lost any money because there were probably not many that payed to get in again. And would have made more money at the concession.

You weren't at the Clay-Corbin game. There would have been no way on Earth all of those people could have gotten in if they wuoldn't have split the sessions. I have no compliants what so ever. Everyone is upset because there not honoring coaches and officials passes. Well, neither did Cawood last year. I'm not saying this just beacuse it's Clay County either. I think this has been the best run 13th region tournament I've been to. Also, there is nothing they can do with traffic. If you all don't want to sit in traffic leave earlier;)

I think the sessions should not be split. Teams should be able to play in front of a full gym. This type of atmosphere makes the tournament more exciting and energy from the first came seems to carry over to the second game. The split sessions are for money.

I think if you coach in the 13 region you should be able to get in. From what I was told the coaches could not get in. Coaches pass or not. They work hard all year round and should be able to get into their regional tournament without paying.
