Best Defenders?

Wasn't sure which thread to post this in, so flipped a coin.

The latest nky coaches poll supports why the all star team being named really isn't a good gauge......

After a HHS drubbing to Tinity 6-0, they still receive a first place vote. Some coaches vote for a certain, or more accurately WON'T vote for other teams no matter what....

Welcome to BGP, Family7! Nice to have another soccer poster on board.

I have withheld comment on this one until I was able to take in a few matches this season, after seeing NCC firsthand I wanted to offer my thoughts. I will have to say that I was very impressed with Hensley, size, speed, ability was all evident... I will also give him bonus points for his demeanor and sportsmanship.

I have been a fan of Kenney for a while so I was just waiting to be able to compare the two... I do not know that it is fair to say which is actually better, by no means would I that Kenney is "hands down" better as others have suggested.

This being said, I can tell you that if I was a NKY goalie, I would be quite happy to look out and see the two of them parked in front of me.

I would certainly agree with representation aspect and teams being heavily senior laden, although players on the better teams get some leeway as well. I don't really have a problem with that necessarily, to the victors go the spoils and all that. It can be a double edge sword though. A good player on a weaker team sometimes is assumed to have inflated numbers because everything revolves around him/her or they play a weak schedule. I would argue that the same player could have lesser numbers on a stronger team and receive much more credibilty. This is one that could be argued all day long, but one thing is for sure, the voting process isn't changing anytime soon. The media doesn't cover soccer enough to have any valid input and I don't think we want a parent vote. That leaves us with the coaches, which is where we are already... Just my opinion.

Wessels for CCH has been very good

Wessels for CCH has been very good

Wessels doesn't get enough credit. He is a very solid and reliable player. Always reads the game well, and reacts accordingly.

Wessels was the defensive MVP in the Trinity game, if you ask me.....

I would say that with the move of Kenney to the midfield for CCH, he has certainly been asked to step up and anchor that defense, which he's done. McNick and Trinity both held without a goal during the run of play I think says something. McNick scored on a corner and Trinity an own goal. Sam Romes in goal full time both games has helped as well of course.
